Great New Research Website...Old Newspapers

I just came across this section of the LOC a couple of weeks ago. It's a great site with some of the top newspapers that covered boxing from 1900 thru 1910 and there is a ton of boxing history in the pages.

Old newspapers such as New York Daily Tribune, New York Evening World, New York Sun, Salt Lake Herald, San Francisco Call, Los Angeles Herald and several others and they are all free to search!

Is everyone aware of the Brookln Eagle historic website?

Thanks barry, seems a good resource for those who might be interested in boxing or badgering. Are there any good badgering articles to be found there by any chance? ...Or do reporters even care about such things? Actually it appears to be useful for any historical fact finding mission one might have.

Just be careful, too much research and you'll find you're related to people you never imagined possible. Dick Cheney and Barack Obama for example.

Man, wouldn't that be a fantastic boxing research tool, huh, Barry?! To have THE RING's archives on-line, much like ''Sports Illustrated'' has done?

Over the past couple of days I have been visiting SI's new "Vault" archive site and uploading its boxing-related cover images to our sister BoxRec boxing encyclopedia. SI has also archived on-line every article from each of its issues. What a wonderful research tool! If only THE RING would do the same!

Anyone have Oscar's e-mail address? :P

Although not necessarily boxing-related, transcripts of trials held at Britain's Old Bailey court are now available online. The transcripts cover the period from 1674 to 1913 and promise to be fascinating to read. The Globe and Mail article about the site. The Web site itself.

Sample search using "boxing" as a search term. And a sample "boxing bout." ("[S]o they stript and fell to it ding dong."

I've been using Barry's link and found quite a few fights. Even the ones we have, it's interesting reading day after reports on Joe Gans, Langford and the pugs of that era.
