Look at those threads on Lauro Salas.

Don't know the name of the boxer with Salas.
Frank
I'm not sure, but I think the other guy is Clay Hodges. Rick would know for sure.

It's not Clay Hodges. Clay is much bigger.

The only Mike Todd I've heard of was Elizabeth Taylor's 3rd husband, who died in a plane crash in 1958. He was born in Minnesota, and was the son of Jewish-Polish immigrants.

Sorry Bennie I was thinking of Richard Burton, both were married to Elizabeth Taylor, Todd was from the good old U.S.A.

Guys , I just got done reading part of Gene Lebells book where he talks about a prelim kid who was a stuntman also.
His name was Tommy Huff. He worked with Conrad on The Wild Wild West.
Anyone remember this kid?
He fought at the Olympic a bunch of times.

Hey, Expug: what was Juan Nazario like as a fighter? He somehow got a second shot at Rosario in 1989 (stopped in the first encounter) and came through on cuts. He then took the money against Whitaker and was starched in the first.
Perhaps I'm being harsh.

When he came to the Fuller park gym, he was sparring with Duran.
Roberto was alot heavier, but they just kinda seemed to be going through the motions.
Nazrio was boxing and moving landing more shots and Duran was just kinda plodding along.
Duran wasnt really exhibiting too much fire in the gym at that point.
Of course they both fought on that card at the Ampitheatre and Nazario belted out a guy named Billy White .
I dont remember that fight too well.
Scartissue was also there and maybe he recalls it a little better.

Never heard of him.

In the 60's, Todd's grave was vandalized. They dug up the body and scattered the bones around the cemetary.

By the way, Frank, your BBQ pic has made me very hungry.

Maybe it was a promoter looking for an opponent for a Roy Jones Jr. title defense?

30,000 views.......I remember a time when this entire BOTP forum did not have that many views. I remain entranced as I read these pages.

Thanks again to all contributors to this appreciated and valuable bit of historical review.

Even the BBQ pic reminds me of how it was done when it was done right!

Guys, I have some bad news, Art Aragon had a stoke and is on the life support and his family is ready to pull the plug, also Luis Magan from the Olympic passed last week at 95-96 years old.

The whole Mike Todd thing is rather strange. He, of course, died in a plane crash in 1958. His "best friend," Eddie Fisher, stated Todd's body was vaporized in the crash, and the only thing in his casket was his wedding band from Liz Taylor.

Not so. In 1977, graverobbers dug up the coffin looking for that gold ring (Thanks for tipping them off, Eddie!). Todd's remains were found in a bag under a tree near the plot.

Frank, that's really bad news about Art Aragon.

I know you saw Aragon fight on numerous occasions, and got to know him pretty well in his post-boxing years. At a more appropriate time, I hope you will share some stories about that great warrior.

I'm sure everybody on the board will keep the Aragon family in our prayers in this difficult time.

Rory Calhoun also on the cover there with Cisco Andrade.
Rory fought a lot of tough guys and seemed to have a tough time with Spider Webb.
Rory fought at the Chicago Stadium a few times.
I see he passed away at a young age.
Anyone know the story there?
