Williams V Hide, It might happen!!

Post by KOJOE90 »

Just seen this report on another Web-site-

The much anticipated all-British heavyweight collision between Danny Williams and loathed rival Herbie Hide is very close to happening, according to several sources.

The clash between the two heavy-handed heavies – whose dislike each other stems from a 1999 sparring session where each claims to have KO'd the other – could well go ahead for the vacant European Union Title as early as April.

The fight nearly happened on the BBC in December but, suddenly, Hide increased his asking price from £125,000 to £175,000 and the fight fell through. In frustration Williams left the BBC and re-signed with Sports Network, only to controversially lose his British & Commonwealth Titles to Michael Sprott last month.

However, that defeat has evidently encouraged former two-time WBO king Hide to take a chance and fight Williams.

Sports Network believe the EU Title is the perfect way to rehabilitate Williams' standing after his strange non-effort against Sprott, as the EU champion becomes highly ranked for the European Title proper.

One well-placed source: "If the fight is ever going to happen, it will happen in the next two or three months. Really, neither of them has a choice anymore but to fight."

I hope this fight does happen but doubt that it will.

The vacant European Union title!! Mick Hennessy has turned another fighter's career around. The wrong way.

I tended to agree with Mighty Warrior, but of late I think Williams has been so awful Hide will spark him.

If Williams came in at close to 19stone for Sprott he'll prob have this amazing theory that if he comes in at 20stone he just might win it. If Hide wins it makes a Harrison v Hide fight much easier to make which is hat I want so im gonna have to swallow my pride and say if these 2 met I want Hide to win.

I think it will be a war, both chinny bangers with good power and little punch resistance wading away and tactics out the window. Both will probably get hurt and dropped and it will just be who stops getting up i think, probably Hide to win it based on Williams last showing but i seriously still doubt it will happen.

Thanks Steve

the reason I DON'T LIKE SKY is more to do with Murdoch buying up all the World's media. No man should have so much power to dictate how we THINK!

The BBC will bring boxing back to its former glory in Britain, Infact I can't wait to see the THOMPSON - ROTHMAN FIGHT!

Same thing in America, Free tv is the only way back for boxing there!
