Initially I was pretty pissed off. But after listening to all the media releases and seeing his press conference I have no doubt the only reasons he has left the sport are his family and health. He has made shit loads of money, his family is quite wealthy so financial set up for the future was never an issue. A world title was and he has accomplished that. Two times if you include interim belts. I say thanks for all the entertaining nights at Challenge Stadium. He has said Green Machine Promotions will stay in th game, concetrating on Promoting Australian talent...

Life is long... he may have enough for a few years...

But alas.. we have seen a gazillion fighters who say the same only to come crawling back 2-3 years later when they realize that life is long...

Only because they waste their money. Danny Green doesn't seem like the type to do that, as evidenced by this retirement.

Agreed .Danny is pretty savvy and think he would of done his sums well enough. While i am disappointed he is gone ,now its happened i would be disappointed if he came back.
At the end of the day hhe put family first and thats as honourable as u get.
Nice to see him pay a positive comment Mundines way.A gentleman.Have not heard a response but sure it will not be of that order(not that Danny probably gives 2 shites).
A fighter of the style of Green i think has to mellow when kids etc come along.I have not seen the pure mongrel dog in him(ie THE REAL EVIL ONE) for some time in the ring.It was like it was there but wasnt. And Danny needed that.IMO.
All the best to a true champ.Pleased GM promotions still going coz i am certain Greeny would look after fighters under his umbrella well and will do nothing but positive things for aussie boxing.

Outside of boxing I doubt he can ever earn as much - no matter what shiny plansd he has now. Every boxer has them but only 1 in 1000 can keep their earnings as when they were boxing.

Maybe he should reconsider if his family wouldnt need money ...
His promotion company is going well in Australia, putting on the best promotions over the last 18 months in the land (although he has been the main attraction in most). He's smart enough, money won't be the reason he reconsiders. However, when you go out on top like this, there is no doubt that from time to time in the near future he will ask himself if he's got more to offer. How he handles that will be the question.
