Dib squeaks home

Post by Beltane »

Billy Dib won a split decision over 10 against Vargas on the same card as Michael K. Scores were 95-94, 94-95. 95-94. As usual, Billy did too much showboating, much to the annoyment to the crowd and callers and needs to pick up his workrate as more vigorous opposition will cane him next time. Too much time was wasted waltzing around backwards with his hands down and at times he did not press his opponent when he had the upper hand.

Next time a close fight in the good ole USA may not go his way with another effort like that. He needs to realise that the judges will not be as sympathetic next time.

Really? It has been reported that Dib seemed to do better than the judges gave him credit for.

It was a very ugly fight to watch. Numerous low blows, holding his head and punching, punches in the back of the head. Dib could have easily been deducted more than one point which would have seen him lose that fight on the cards.

I think there was another post one here last year where I stated I didn't think Billy deserves the hype he's got and that I thought he lost the fight on the De La Hoya vs. Mayweather undercard, he got IMO a gift of a decision. I got slaughtered for this.

Looks like its happened again. Its a shame because he shows touches of good skill, speed and judgement but ti would seem he would rather show boat, run around the ring and fight illegally.

Seconded. Complete gift decision on the DLH undercard, which the crowd promptly booed!

Gee, how about that! A Las Vegas crowd booing a unanimous decision against a Latino. What next?

Let's see how he goes against Linares.
