Witter-Timothy Bradley May 10
Witter-Timothy Bradley May 10
Looks like Jr's title defense is a go-ahead. Not sure if it's UK or US.
This is the same date as Froch-Inkin and Murray-Fewkes, also by Hennessy.
Good to see a challenger actually stepping up to fight Witter.

it's just not gonna happen for witter.
The Boxing community know who he is - I read a quote the other day from Maliganaanananagqnananannanaananananagggiiiiii he is a good fighter etc.
Its a fight - Witter needs to fight - oits his mandatory - why not?

Hopefully this fight will take place in the US. Regardless of Bradley's standing in America it will attract far more interest if Witter beats him over there.
There were rumours of a Unification against Torres so hopefully if Junior wins this fight in the US against Bradley that Unification can take place very soon afterwards. Junior is getting old now so 6-7 months betweeen fights I think is a bit too much, indeed he's been even less active than that for years now.

Witter hasn't got his pick of opponents, people are pleased he can at least get a fight.
Hatton is by far the most marketable fighter in the division - everyone wants to fight him.
They are not in the same situation so the double standards are not relevant. Also it's a mandatory defense from Witter, you know, the thing that Hatton has never had to make

Witter's been fighting sh*t oponents his whole career, for a guy with so much talent its a crying bloody shame. Dont give me any of that "nobody wants to fight him" bollocks and only Timothy 'who the fcuk is he' Bradley is the best willing....... "ooo but he's a yank and its in America"....... piss off, he's an unkown and Witter is 30 fcuking 5 years old fighting, at best, twice a year!
Instead of chasing Hatton, he should consider following his lead!

Witter has simply not been able to get opponents. Gianluca Branco pulled out of a WBC elim in America. That is what it has been like consistently for Witter. That is also why he struggled with Ndou and Kotelnik because he's simply not had the nice gradual learning curve,ALI wrote:Witter's been fighting sh*t oponents his whole career, for a guy with so much talent its a crying bloody shame. However, Jr has beaten Jan Bergman (Tszyu challenger), Kotelnik (debatable), Ndou (struggle, but JW scored knockdowns), Corley, Harris. Even Lynes is an opponent that looks better. Bradley looks like a decent opponent for a guy who can't get anyone to face him.
He's faced about the same # of good fighters as Hatton. When you think Hatton has always had the pick of everything, that reflects badly on Ricky IMO. When Hatton was relatively wasting his career on the WBU, Witter was being ducked despite holding Commonwealth & Euro belts.
It looks like agood night for boxing. Hennessy is putting on a great domestic card and a good fight in America.
How so? Hatton is allowed to do anything he wants, whereas Witter can't exactly force ppl to fight him. Bradley was set to fight an elim, which is how it should be done, but Castillo pulled out.Cannibal wrote:Hatton gets ripped to shreds for his opponent choices and Witter gets a pat on the back for taking on someone who isn't even known in his own living room and hasn't boxed anywhere near Junior's level.
Major double standards on this forum.
If boxing wasn't so fvcked up, Witter and Hatton would already have fought - maybe more than once - and both would be better known.
Shit, if Eubank had never faced Benn (or if Benn refused to fight him because "I don't like him") then Eubank would have been little more than a posing oddity for much of his career.
No, I'm a phoney.ALI wrote:Autobarn wrote:He's faced about the same # of good fighters as Hatton.

Are you for real?
Hatton: Tszyu, Mayweather (when you get past these 2 modern greats), Collazo, Maussa, Urango, Magee, Castillo.
Witter: Morua (beat Maussa), Harris (beat Lazcano), Lynes (equal to Magee at very least), Kotelnik (current WBA champ), Ndou.
The unknown Tim Bradley seems more appetising than Lazcano (beaten by Harris, beaten by Castillo, turned down by HBO).
Witter's EUROPEAN title fight vs Kotelnik was a better opponent than all of Hatton's WBU challengers put together.
You make it sound like Jr actively ducks people.
Take Mayweather out of the equation and there's not much difference in the standard of opposition IMO, despite Hatton being able to make any fight HE wants and Junior having to do things the hard wayALI wrote:Autobarn wrote:He's faced about the same # of good fighters as Hatton.

Cracking news for Junior, it should get him some decent exposure stateside. I really hope someone picks this up over here, Setanta??? ITV?? It's gonna be an excellent night of boxing and en excellent night for the Hennessey camp.
Junior should get one of them 'Where's Ricky??' T-shirts printed off for post-fight interview speech and calling out of the yellow one

Could not agree more! Hatton is fighting Lazcano having been in with Mayweather, and Witter is fighting Bradley?!!Cannibal wrote:Hatton gets ripped to shreds for his opponent choices and Witter gets a pat on the back for taking on someone who isn't even known in his own living room and hasn't boxed anywhere near Junior's level.

If Man Utd played lots of games versus Birmingham, Fulham and Derby with one game against Real in the middle they'd be criticised for not facing Arsenal and Chelsea.
Junior Witter is more like Everton, played lots of PSV's, Villa's and Man City but longing for a chance to play the Man Utd's, Reals and Chelsea's.
Because boxing structure means those appealing match-ups are not mandated as they would be in football.
For the blind, I'm comparing Man Utd with Hatton as the big cash cow.
