Oisin Fagan V Andy Murray in the pipelines

FAGAN V MURRAY- very interesting fight. Murray is unbeaten, once he gets by Gorman this weekend, he'll be the Irish Light-welter champion (proper), but I hear Fagan is moving back from the US to Dublin in the summer and no doubts, that would be a cracking fight- who do you think would be favorite?

Provided Murray gets past Gorman you mean. It's going to be a difficult one but winnable for both men. Murray V Fagan seems to me a case of Murray's smoother boxing against Fagan's toughness. Murray for me on points.

Could be right. I think Murray is a better boxer, but you can never rule out Fagan- too tough for that. Fagan is a better "fighter". I hope that comes about- I'd be interested to see it.

Murray v Gorman is off. James has had to withdraw from the fight, he has damaged his knee badly while out for a jog yesterday. James is unable to apply any weight to the leg or straighten it. He has seen a specialist yesterday evening who has told him the he should not fight on it. To be honest I was with James last night and he could hardly walk nevermind fight.

James is absolutely gutted as he was physicially and mentally ready to take the title off Murray.

Hopefully we can have a rematch scheduled for the future, but understand that these kind of last minute injuries are an absolute pain in the ass for all involved.

agh fuuuuckk!! Gutted for James and gutted for the fans, many of whom were looking forward to this fight more that the Macklin one!

Will Murray get a replacement??

On the Fagan v Murray - I dont see why Fagan would fight Murray - isnt it time Fagan thought about "cashing out" - and losing to Murray would f&%@ that up

I'm not sure about a replacement for Murray I know Brian Peters has his team working on it now, and hopefully Mutley can get something sortted.

James is gutted and is really depressed about it all as you would be I suppose. It just a matter now of keeping the spirits up and getting back to work in th egym as soon as the knee recovers. This is a reoccuring problem that gorman suffers and so far the doctors have not been able to find a cause or cure. Bone on bone and possible floating bodies of bone from the rubbing. James knows that he is now out for at least 6 weeks and aims to start back to work int he gym as soon as he is fully recovered.

I know many fans were going for this war rather then the Macklin bout, and hopefully we can have a replacment fighter for Murray. Fingers crossed.

Yes mate. Murray will face Leonard Lothian according to a press report.

A knee injury has put paid to the Irish Light Welterweight title rematch between Andrew Murray and James Gorman. Murray will still fight on the card against England's Leonard Lothian but won’t be defending his title after Gorman was forced to withdraw on Thursday night.

The Belfast man suffered ligament damage while out running and had to pull out of the fight following medical advice.

Fagan v Murray would be an excellent fight, I'd love to see it but I don't see Fagan going for it...

Anyone know why Fagan is coming home from the US?

Murray is 10-0 now I think, will there be another fight with Gorman now?

Fagan-Gorman would be a decent fight too down the line. I think Murray is open to being exposed at light welter, he's better at lightweight whereas Gorman/Fagan would be more natural at the heavier weight.

Thoughts?

Gorman v Fagan was talked about a long time ago, but at this time Fagan had no intentions of returning to Ireland. Now that Fagan plans to return it might be a fight we see. I would wait and see what Fagan desides to do on his return to Ireland. If he is still interested in the fight game then a slight push for Gorman v Fagan might be all it takes. at the same time Fagan might want his title back off Murray, at the 1st press conference of Gorman v Murray (undercard of Duddy v Eastman) Peters did say "if anyone see's Oisan don't tell him were taking his title off him" lol. Fagan might want it back, now that he is returning to Ireland, who knows?

It has been said that Gorman v Murray (3rd time lucky) is availible if all camps can find a suitible date etc. RTE said that there had been discussions and that the fight WOULD be rescheduled. I hope so as the last fight was a good scrap until it had to be stopped. Gorman v Walsh in cork was an absolute blinder and the boys recieved a standing ovation from the 7th rnd to the final bell as they stood toe to toe banging away. I reckon (personally) that Brain Peters might try to arrange the Gorman v Murray on the undercard of a show in the next 4-6 months as a warm up fight for Murray before he moves on to bigger things.

Oisin's visa is nearing an end hence a possible return if it is not extended. I would be a little surprised if he didnt find a way to get a new visa - he was Oklahoma state champion and a teachers in a really deprived area of Oklahoma City - jesus if thats the type of person that gets knocked back for a visa then that country must be in an awful shape.

I cant see a Murray v Fagan fight happening unless Oisin moves back.

I hear that,

I don't think Murray would beat Fagan though. Fagan has been in there with much greater competition and make a great account of himself. Murray hasn't fought anyone on the same level.

As for Fagan coming back to Ireland- I think thats the plan alright. And as much as he'll be looking to cash out, he really wants his title back, so that would be a fight that I think could probably happen down the line. However, I think he'll have his heart set on a money fight with Amir Khan. Fagan's style would give Khan trouble I think.

Rumor has it that Kimbrough is going to step up to the plate and give Fagan a rematch in May or June for the NABA title. Could be a main event on ESPN- that was another Gatti V Ward fight the last time andI couldn't see it being anything other than another classic this time.

Murray is facing the ever dangerous Juris Ivanovs over 8 rounds. The Letterkenny bill is changing all the time. I remember reading that Ciaran Healy was fighting Steve Conway but now he appears to be fighting a rematch with Pavel Lotah and Mike Perez is off the bill with an injury.

The weigh in is tomorrow at 2pm so we should see what Bazan is looking like and also whether Ciaran Healy has actually trained this time! Preview to follow on BBN

P.S. I think BBC NI are showing this on delay the Sunday evening, which is good as that channel is available on the mainland through SKY. Will have to confirm that though.
