ALEX ARTHUR BEING CREATIVE WITH THE TRUTH, YET AGAIN

Post by overhand_right »

Arthurs on the BBC website saying this fight with Guzman is for 'the undisputed championship'

Anyone with half a brain knows the WBO champ is not the undisputed champ.

I'm sure Manny Pac or Juan Manuel Marquez figure in the undisputed super-feather title before Guzman and especially Arthur do.

I cant wait for Guzman to decapitate this guy.

Haha. What kind of true boxing fan would cheer on a guy trying to lie & con his way into being called undisputed champ? Pretending those outside the WBO rankings dont exists. Classic Frankie Warren.

I will always admire guys with David Hayes attitude to boxing, whether they're from the UK or US or wherever!

yeah i saw this and had to chuckle, unless he meant 'undisputed WBO champ' i.e. the interim title holder facing the full title holder..

Must be that, he's a decent guy and wouldn't try to decieve people i know how highly he rates Marquez and presumably Pacquiao so can't believe he'd disregard them.

Inventive Journalism i think.

Guzman is one of my favourite fighters, I fail to see why we are expected to want Arthur to win because he is Scottish?

Fair play to AA for wanting to mix it with the best fighters though, even if he does come out with all sorts of shite

I don't get this mentality. Support a fighter based on how good he is or how much you like him but why purely on nationality? I supported Barrera over Naz because I prefer Barrera.

Was it right for certain Germans to support the nutty Nazi party just because they were "just like us"?
Precisely. That's one of the things I like about boxing, it's not so partisan. I don't care where someone is from, I like watching good fighters fight and support those who I think are class.

Get off Arthur's case for god's sakes it's embarrassing. Slip of the tongue, probably mis-reported.

Alex is an intelligent guy - he knows he isn't or won't be the undisputed champion.

You would think none of you ever said anything remotely incorrect.

I think we have all guessed or think we know the outcome of the fight.

I hope Guzman is lenient on Arthur.

This seems to be creeping into boxing a lot now when these terms are thrown about and I think the sense of their meaning has been lost 'unified', 'undisputed', universally recognised'....

Calzahe-Kessler & Haye-Maccarinelli are a couple of recent examples. You can argue the politics in those cases but the end result is comments such as Arthur's.

My Father always said, be it boxing or football he was there to hopefully see a good fight/game and hoped the best man/team won. I like if possible to support the hometeam or Brit so I will support AA although I dont see him winning.
