THE BEST TRAINER ?

Post by Crew2 »

NOT AS IN TRAINER/COACH

WHO'S THE BEST BOXER AT TRAINING U SEEN OR HEARD ABOUT, MOST AWESOME IN GYM ETC MOST DEDICATED OR WHAT EVER

HATTON ALWAYS LOOKS GREAT ON THE BODY BELT, PADS AND BAG, BUT IN HIS LAST 6 FIGHTS IT HASNT TRANFERRED OVER INTO HIS PERFORMANCES. SO BRING EFFECTIVENESS IN AS WELL IF U WANT, WHAT EVER

I would say Mayweather but all his televised training is the same rehearsed for the cameras pitter patter pads, one two three four straight punches on the bags, skipping and sit ups. I would like to see him in real training to judge.

Holyfield was an intense trainer with a very modern attitude.

Oh come on,Nigel's training was immature and very stupid. 18mile marathon runs up mountains in Tenerife every day above the clouds, gym workouts every single day always focussing on punch pads more then sparring or anything else, heavy fullbody weight workouts every other day, clubbing every three days to 'see off tension'(!!),200 various tablets a day, fish and zinc capsules for breakfast, etc.

Nigel was practically training Bruno for his second Tyson fight and BBBC health officials think the ridiculous 200 tablets a day that Nigel swore by was what made Frank so anxious ...

Darren Sweeney was an intense trainer in terms of physical fitness.

Used to make me tired just watching him..

Benn was the most intense though, more even than Tyson.. his calisthenics were awesome to watch, and his mitt work just blew you away..

Lol.

But Nige a bloody ledge, mind you, nearly smashing Barkley and McClellan into Arum's and King's laps, just for Rule Brittania. Before the Eubank loss he was on the verge of fighting Leonard, Hearns and Nunn and being a regular on Arsenio Hall's sofa's. But he wouldn't change the Eubank rivalry or Eubank rematch for the world, and neither would anyone.

To answer the question, a prime Mike Tyson, trained by Kevin Rooney.

I've heard/read that on a couple of occasions.
What interests me even more than the 'hard trainers' are the guys who looked like world-beaters in the gym but were somehow unable to produce the same type of performance in the ring.
Tony Collins is one name that springs to mind as apparently he used to stand Eubank on his head in sparring. Anyone know of others?

Most people stood Eubanks on his head in sparring. But not at fight time.

I suspect the best gym boxer was Howard Eastman, given the 'talent' 'insiders' credit him for compared to the talent he's actually exhibited in a professional boxing ring.

Could never work Howard out, liked him, there was something missing in his makeup. He loved knowledge but it was his interpretation of it which puzzled me :D

I'd go with Mayweather. I love the sits ups and then throwing punches that he does looks stunningly hard.

I'm confused, is this the best boxing trainer or the best boxer at training?
