Witter "I'll fight Hatton for Free" - The Sun

JUNIOR WITTER has told Ricky Hatton he will fight him for FREE.

Witter, 34, believes Hatton is running scared and has used every excuse in the book to avoid the Battle of Britain boxing fans would love to see.

The WBC light-welterweight champion said: "I'm gutted the fight hasn't come off.

"Ricky's scared and he knows I'd whoop his a***. He's good but he knows I'm better.

"I'm a fighter and I want to prove I'm the best out there.

"He's had 101 excuses. He used to say I haven't got a title but I have a title.

"He says I'm not box office but I am box office — I'm the WBC champion.

"Now he's saying he doesn't want to give me a payday.

"All I need is my training expenses and I'll come round and kick his a*** in front of everybody for free.

"My people have got to get paid, my training expenses have got to be paid but I'll do it for free.

"I can do that because I know I'm going to win."

1) "You've not got a title" - CHECK!

2) "You're not Box Office" -CHECK! HBO are interested, Showtime are airing his Bradley fight and he's the WBC Champion

3) "I don't want to give you a payday"

CHECK! Junior will whoop him for free

There's been plenty more over the years

But if this fight did happen, it won't be until next summer or whatever, which is just a ridiculously long wait, because The Hitman has Paulie Maggiwhateverhisname lined up for 7-8 months after his next fight.

Having this article in 'The Sun' is great exposure to the Hatton fanbase IMO and the nation, then Witter goes on ITV1 and sparks out the unbeaten yank in dramatic style and the Hatton fanbase and the nation sees him calling out Hatton and dissing him publicly again. He'll have no choice, but fight him if Junior keeps the pressure with good performances.

Soon it won't just be a few internet boxing geeks having tantrums on websites and a few pundits and writers doing the odd article, it'll be the blokes in the pub talking about it, then the whole casual fan population will be calling for it as well as the entire boxing fraternity, then the World mwahahaha!

Make sure you tell Hatton you will fight him his mum and his dad on the same night!

Tell him you will knock him out on ITV or anywhere and show the World that his is just a drunkard and a coward!

The Sun as you say prints a lot of rubbish, I have personal experiance of that, but it does sell millions of copies daily. Witter needed a fight and Bradley was the best they could get. Witter isnt the greedy git Hatton and his lot are, he says he will fight for free. That stops Hatton saying "I wont give Witter the payday" so what other excuses can Hatton come up with. Its easy cancel Malignaggi and fight Witter, it can be done. Hatton is frightened shitless of facing Witter. Being beaten by PBF is one thing, losing in a domestic dust up to prove who is the best in Britain and the World is another. I think I know what Hatton will use as an excuse "why fight Witter for 20% or whatever, of what I would make fighting Malignaggi" Its all about pride Ricky, proving you are the best at 140, giving your fans what they want and retiring (IF you won) with a good legacy. Witter is the man at 140 and has the WBC belt to prove it. Hatton has to prove otherwise and there is no other way, he has to fight Witter.

PBF did all the work to be the BEST figthter in the world and gave Hatton the chance AND the oayday.

You really have no idea.

Witter won all his belts HIMSELF. I do not recall seeing Hatton in the ring when Witter won all his titles.

Witter has the WBC belt. How is Witter riding on Hattons coat tails? Witter says he will fight for free and if he won, he should get a bit of glory and some good paydays. Cunning lot the Hattons trying to get a deal with Malignaggi before the Lazcano fight. They want to be in a position to say Ricky cant fight Witter because he already has a fight with Malignaggi. Then it could be PBF 2, lose again, make a fortune and retire. Then in a few years it will be Sir Joe Calzaghe and sorry Ricky but you ducked your main rival so f*ck off.

I think its clear now the Hatton fight wont happen this yr, so Witter needs to get this Bradley defence sown up and then get in with Torres in October, over in the USA, I aint sure where the bigger Columbian fanbase is whether its New York or Las Vegas, but he definately needs the fight to be in one of those locations.

2 KO wins in those fights will make it very difficult for Hatton to keep being dismissive.

Hatton should fight a mandatry sometime rather vacating for crap Columbians or weight drained Castillo's picked at the right time. Plus Witter needs his WBC belt to get fighters to fight hm.

He Is scared, fighters who feel disrespected generally want to shut them up In the ring like Floyd hitting Hatton Into the corner post. You don't call the pretty boy boring without getting pot shotted.

He made the effort by winning a world title which Hatton said he had to do and saying that when your not world class yet Is bold and cocky and he stopped 15 guys In a row clearly showing he Is a threat.

Thought Ricky wanted all the belts like he said when he had the WBA and IBF together Witter has the WBC and Witter Is a great champion hence he has made his title, better than making the WBU or IBO like he's doing.

Witter is the legimate champ at 140 not Hatton and Witter has the belt to prove it. Average fighters dont become world title holders and its daft to suggest Witter is only average. Hatton would have beaten Witter at the time he fought Tyszu IMO because he was at his peak. Now the tables have turned and Witter has the better chance of winning. Hatton knows that and as much as he would love Witters belt he wont risk losing to Witter so all we get are excuses from him. Why should Witter give up on calling out Hatton, he knows Hatton is the man to beat and wants to be acknowleged as the top man at 140. I was a Hatton fan as you obviously are but his refusal to fight the number one in the division has pissed me off, plus his love of money and lack of consideration for his loyal fans. Lazcano for his next fight fair enough but then it should be Witter not Malignaggi.
