Sp*nklicker you clearly know nothing about boxing which shows by your opinions on Hatton
Lets expand that a little. He knows nothing about anything and comes on here to be a childish nuisance. BTW try not to lick Hattons arse so much and use his excuses as your own for him not taking on Witter.
I believe Ricky as he's a down to earth bloke, i may protect him a bit but at least i have a boxing point of view

Yes fair play to you, you are expressing your views on boxing and on Hatton in particular in this case. Hatton may have millions but he is a working class man and comes accross as being ordinary and down to earth. His lifestyle isnt likely to be ordinary though, it cant be. I dont think you will find Ricky down at the chippy on a Friday night anymore getting fish and chips for the family. Making money while you can makes sense but the Hattons are just plain greedy. Fighting the best should be Rickys aim, now he has more money than he can spend. Giving his fans the fight they really want. Billy Graham said a good while ago they had made much more than they needed to live a life of luxury. Oh well Ricky maybe rich but he will pay in the glory stakes for ducking Witter. BTW did you know Witter wished Hatton well when he fought PBF?

So you know Hatton personally do you. I said I didnt think he would go down to the chippy, I dont actually know because unlike you I dont know him. I have known famous people (from the world of pop) and they cant do just as they please like normal unknown ordinary people. They have to mix with other celebs because its pure hell mixing with the public. However if Hatton loves the adoration and all the bullshit from people in pubs good luck to him but he isnt as humble as you try to make out. Most famous people avoid all that and hate the insincere comments people make. To me its a horrible life, I wouldnt want it.

Different styles of writing altogether plus different opinions, no Spud is Spud. Plopeater (my wife was almost sick reading his username) will have more posts than me in a few days from now and while his posts are about boxing they dont show a lot of boxing knowledge. Spud although contraversial in the past has a lot of knowledge of the sport.

but then calzaghe still plays darts and drinks in pubs in newbridge.
i think youre underestimating peoples intelligence, waylon. what do you think would happen if famous people mixed with the great unwashed?
(which actually they do every day of the week) of course we would get down en masse and worship at their feet. we would want to touch them, to feel their other worldly aura, to vicariously share in their glory.
bollux! "they" walk the same streets and use the same shops as everyone else. one or two might like to claim that they'd be mobbed by hordes of besotted teenage girls but that serves the ego quite nicely, thank you.
you really have bought the "fame" "celebrity" spin hook, line and sinker me old mate :TU:

Maybe I am out of date Harry. Maybe modern celebs do get out and about more nowadays. My experiances go way way back. Trying to have a quiet pint with certain well known people from the world of pop just wasnt easy and made me feel uncomfortable never mind them. I speak from my own experiances and imagined things wouldnt have changed that much over the years. I suppose if you dont mind signing autographs, shaking hands and being stared at its OK.

Hatton-PBF at Wembley in Spring 2009 would be an amazing event for British boxing and sport in general.

Anyone that can't see that needs to take off their Hatton-hating glasses for a second.

If Hatton can win his next fight convincingly and then take out someone like Malligiwhatshisface the rematch could gain an extra edge.

It would be ideal if Hatton could go into a PBF fight off the back of a Witter fight but I guess that isn't going to happen.

Either way it would be a superb event.

No idea - I've only read the vague quotes in the press the same as most of you so 'scheduled' isn't a term I would use!

I would guess at Welterweight again though....

Sorry DG but you are in such a minority.

Hatton-PBF at Wembley would be massive.

The media coverage and build up could inspire 1000s of kids to give boxing a go and British boxing could reap the benefits of this further down the line.

This isn't saying a I love Hatton/don't like Witter whatever, it's just a statement of near fact. It would be BIG and ultimately British boxing would benefit so in 15 years time when you are tucking into your Junior Witter shaped biscuits watching another Brit challenging/winning for a world title and he says he got interested in the sport around this time, Hatton will have played a large part in that whether it offends you or not.

Of course it would be good for british boxing,
100,000 people at wembley
massive television and newspaper coverage.
Anything that gets the average bloke talking about boxing is good. I don't think there has ever been a time when your average beer drinker could name every british boxing champion. They have only ever known who the TV stations have been pushing, which right now is Ricky Hatton along with a couple others.

Goz, I see your point, but from where I am sitting its all just a money making exercise.

ALSO.

Fighting Witter in a stadium cold do the ame thing AND have US interested NOW!!!

If Hatton just said 'Look - I am scared and a greedy pudendum' would have more respect for him.

The whole country was all over Shitmann Vsd PBF 1 and who the fcuk did that inspire?

The headbutting of the ring post could be in Videos for years to come as the funniest knock out or inspire many to take up 10 pin bowling but

I just do not buy the package that Hatton chooses to present his greed in.

If it happens I hope PBF knocks him out in 1!

and when Benn and Eubank retired they had no one,
and when Bruno retired they had no one.
Of course there have been others but not every boxer can be popular with the mainstream audience. It takes more than doing the business in the ring to get the kind of following Hatton has.
