Witter's European title shot could end up in Italy

The clash for the vacant European light-welterweight title between Junior Witter and Italy's Salvatore Battaglia has gone back to purse bids. A first bid saw promoter allegedly win the right to stage the fight, but Warren - allegedly - failed to meet a deadline to stage the fight and the European Boxing Union opted to go back to scratch.
New bids will take place on February 16.
This is bad news for Witter. He may have to fight in Italy. Does Warren even care?

it certainly not the first time Frank has won purse bids for fights and never staged them... conincidently normally when he is trying to get one over on another promoter/fighter.

Remember how he kept winning purse bids for Williams v long when Williams left him.... then the fight didnt happen for ages...

Was it Frank who had a pop at Mich Hennessey for entering his purse bids in the incorrect currency, at least when he wins the purse bids he can be arsed to stage the fight.

Hennessy's bid smacked of incompetence. As for Warren, he's just not interested in Witter any more it seems. You may remember how Witter labelled Ricky Hatton a "coward" last year, and Warren countered by calling his trainer John Ingle "a two-faced whinger". This is the latest fallout.

Warren went to the EBU to ask for an extension. The EBU have replied by telling him to sling his hook

I have also heard(though no proof, so it could be inaccurate)Warren is now subject to a fine due to his faliure to stage the bout in the allotted time.

I have also heard that Hennessys 'bid' was done purely to upset Warren..

Ive been known to offend Hennessy quite a bit but I would really turn round you comments about Micks competence to whether Frank has acted in a competent manner..I for one have my doubts

Don't believe everything you hear. Mick Hennessy's bid was sheer incompetence. allegedly's subsequent actions are borne out of probable disdain. You're naive to think otherwise.
