Starting Boxing

Post by Gooner123 »

OK, I've never boxed before, but on Monday I am starting at an amateur gym here in the UK, I was just wondering what I should buy? Should I prepare today and tomorrow workout wise as I'm out of shape as well fitness wise.

Not many execise's you can do to prepare yourself in just two days gooner.

Get yourself some sparring gloves, skipping rope, gum shield and bandages.
Then be prepared to work fvcking hard!

Walking in is the easy part :TU:

Good Luck.

PS. The ABA's have just started, so you may not get a great deal of attention as the trainers will focus more on the fighters they have entered(if they do have any of course)Don't let this put you off

I know I've kind of left it late to ask, but it took me ages to realize I was registered on a boxing site. Anyway I've got a rope and bag gloves and I did 3 rounds of 3 minutes with each yesterday.

I've just realized that amateur fights are 2 minute rounds, any idea how many rounds there are to a fight?

If it's the same as it is down in Australia (I assume it is) as a Novice it will be 3 x 2 then once Open it's 4 x 2.

Good luck and have fun!
