Barry, as you prepare that list, and if you do not already know, Alabama was a ND state in 1930. (Just discovered this fact for myself tonight.) Source: THE RING, Nov. 1930, p. 60.
BTW: I own just about a half-dozen issues of THE RING, circa early 1930s. I know that fellow BoxRec editors possess or have access many more issues. Doesn't Mike DeLisa have most issues of this magazine. Mike?
You know, there is a wealth of information in those old issues that the BoxRec database could use. Just from the few issues I possess, I have found - for example - nicknames/real names of a few boxers, unrecorded bouts (often with no exact date given), etc. The back pages of these issues, where THE RING reports results from various parts of the world, are particularly informative. I hope that those of you fellow BoxRec editors who have access to these old THE RING magazines will take the time to go through each of them, and enter heretofore unrecorded bouts (citing the source, of course), hometowns, aliases, and other factoids THE RING mentions in those issues.

Hi --Yeah, I have a pretty extensive collection -- just about everything from 28 to 1998 and a decent number of issues from 1922-1928. What I don't have, other guys on the CBZ can fill in.
A word of caution -- articles on fighters -- ie Dec 1928 Joe Blow New Star -- are typically written with info provided from press flacks and are notoriously UN-reliable. The back-of-the-issue reports are usually accurate.
I have used my collection as a starting point for much of what is on the CBZ, but I always try and confirm dates with newspaper articles. Many of the "un-published" records that I have are chock-full of details form the mags.
