He was off balance by Reids right hands but that could because he was countered and has that awful Roy Jones guard.

I don't understand peoples fear about Froch's chin - yeah okay sometimes he may have been stunned here and there - f*ck me I remember a while back him having a couple of problems with Charles Adamu but he got over it - and in addition I don't think there is a boxer in the world who hasn't been stunned momentarily in the odd fight or 2.

Froch is a class performer with a good chin - it would take a top top boxer to stop him - and BTW Calzaghe is not the man to do it either!!!
Yeah he has a good chin no doubting that... Can you remember the fight Spud in which he was badly hurt - very early in his pro career... before Adamu.

But yeah... seems to have a cast iron chin - every fighters gets hurt.

Stu,

Are you barking mad because you seem to have been watching different fights to me - bearing in mind from Carl's 1st fight in March 2002 right up to and including his fight against Mark Woolnough I had the best seat in the house - right on the ring ropes - I never saw Carl remotely flustered until the Charles Adamu fight - not once mate!!!

Have to say though I shit myself in that Adamu fight - was going nuts and even got a b*llocking for shouting through the ropes at Carl - I honestly thought right up until the last couple of rounds he was behind on points - that Adamu was one tough cookie - Froch hit him with some mighty shots and the f*cker did hardly budged - can't remember what round Carl dropped him - I actually thought Adamu was more off balance but I got told to stop talking rubbish!!1 but hey that was some fight.

I would actually argue the Adamu fight was Frochy's best performance - solely down to he has never had to dig deeper and in my opinion has never been so far behind on the judges cards either.

People will say the Magee fight or the Reid fight or the Tatesvosyan fight or something like that because they were reasonable names - but I remain convinced the Adamu fight was the one where Froch understood what its like to dig deep.

I'll find the tape and tell you.... infact someone did mention it before in the archives here.

I agree the Adamu fight was his toughest... the fight I am on about was a momentary thing.

I really want to see that tape you are on about - because in my view he has never been flustered.

Now recently he did get smacked by that Aussie at the York Hall - for the first time I thought - bloody hell - Froch can take a decent punch - but he got monetarily stopped in his tracks - however IMO he has a rock solid chin.

Nah... it was an early early fight... before Alan Page.

Westerman didn't have Froch on rubbery legs... although Dale was brave. I'm sure this fight did.

Thinking it must be Odin or Paul Bonson - looking at his record or maybe Kochryan.

It was definately televised. I'll track it down. Or someone will say on here, as I said... sure this has been mentioned before.

You are wrong about the Odin fight - bear in mind please Froch sparred Odin a lot in the lead up to that fight as well!!! - Froch played around in that fight - for whatever reason he wanted to please the crowd - not once did he remotely get hurt or even stunned in that fight - he may have played the wobbly legs routine and if he did that would have been to take the p*ss and get the crowd going.

Looked at the archives on here (cause yep, its been discussed before) - can narrow it down to the Odin or Korchryan... thinking the latter.

Hi Stu,

I have all Froch's fights plus all his ABA wins and amateur tapes.

Nobody has really shook him in any fight, especially his early pro ones. He's been caught a few times... well a lot of time actually ! but never rattled by them.

He was a bit shabby against Westerman because he "Couldn't really get motivated for a fat bald Aussie" and that big barnet of his at the time held about 6 pints of water and everytime he got tagged it was like something out of Rocky, with water spraying everywhere - hence the short hair now after McCracken took the pee of it.

With regards Inkin, Froch said of their amateur fight that he was more miffed with the squad coaches.

They said that he had to keep his gloves up high and box to their strict orders at ALL times. It wasn't until the last round that he gave it some welly and the knock-down came.

I believe, at that point in their respective careers, that Inkin was better than Froch because he was a Russian Army captain and was boxing full-time as part of their military squad. Meanwhile the Cobra was answering a phone at NTL 9-5pm and doing a weekly work-out and jogging on a Sunday.

Froch is the better pro for me and will be really up for this fight as the preparation went extremely well in Tenerife with all his spars going very solidly (Darren Barker, Anthony small etc)

Plus Inkin has been fighting in front of polite German fans who clap quietly after a round... at Nottingham Arena it's going to be a real raucous crowd and this could really affect the fight in Carl's favour... Inkin wont be prepared for that and i reckon despite his cool exterior he'll be bricking it.

If your interested in that amateur fight its right here :-

Round 4 http://www.livefight.com/forum/index.ph ... 057.0.html

( im glad some people have noticed the Inkin fights i put up on youtube! )

If you want more inkin fights PM me.

froch has never been hurt. he is a very tough guy.

He took a couple of massive right hands from Reid and shook them off, adamu did NOT have him in trouble other than the guy's workrate, and btw the knockdown in that fight was a lethal short right hand that landed perfectly, adamu was a hell of a tough guy to get up from that.

froch may not reach elite level but he'll always have that tough guy/big punch combination making him diffucult to beat.

And I am dead sure he KO's Inkin.

Stujones,

I reckon you're thinking of Kocharyan. I remember at the time that Froch looked stunned from some solid shots, but Carl recovers so quickly I can only end up thinking he wasn't actually hurt at all.

Adamu tested him hard, but again, Froch passed with a little to spare.

Butch,

I think Carl Froch was totally f*cked after that Adamu fight so I have to disagree with your last few words - I was stunned how much Carl was missing in the first 5 rounds!!! - but nonetheless a FANTASTIC learning fight.

Froch could well do it, especially at home. But Inkin is so well schooled and a lot of people think that Carl's style isn't going to work in all scenarios. Can he adapt? He has good wins over Magee and Tatevosyan - KOs of solid Euro level fighters - and could step up the next level.

Carl can throw brilliant, fluid punches but sometimes it takes him a long time to get going. (Inkin meanwhile is going to be solid, consistent and methodical at what he does.) I like how Carl can score the late KO though but like his fighting better when he just gets on with it from the start (ala Tatevosyan).

Not really Stuart. I really do like boxing on ITV and for that reason I want him and Witter to do well. Until now its been all down to Amir Khan. Boxers need National TV exposure IMO and if both do well its going to be good for them and good for us. Thought you might be one of the first to post on this thread!!! Waylon.

Love him or loathe him he's guarenteed to bring excitement, we won't be getting and Audley-Williams I debacles. He'll make you a fan of his yet :TU:

I've had a busy un at work this week, so I've had to be thread selective and as you might have noticed Hatton's put a BIG fcuking Bee in my Bonnet

This is one of the international top fights of the year. It could easily have been a championship fight and one of maybe both of these guys will probably be champion one day.

And I am not british. :TU:
