Julio wasnt upo to mucxh but Khaliq is the best wlter in Britain. He would be too good for Hare, Magee, Sinclair etc. Time to step it up though.

Yes i think Khaliq should step it up but maybe if he is at a loose end he could settle the domestic disputes, i would now pick him to beat Hare and Sinclair. Sinclair's heart is not in Boxing anymore and is as good as quit and Hare showed last time against Rivera he doesn't have the answers against the better guys, the only fight i cannot see cut and dried for Khaliq is Magee. I know Magee is moving up in weight but he is a big guy who has fought some good opposition at Light Welter, Magee's tendency not to work for 12 rounds would probably swing it to Khaliq but it would not be a forgone conclusion IMO.

I think people are reading too much into Hare's loss. Hare was blatantly not himself that night, his timing was off, and he looked lethargic. In fact the signs were there in his previous fight, that all was not well.

Hare had been in the gym continuously for about 5 months, and he was a rare case I think of a fighter who is genuinely overtrained.

Prior to that he looked great against Bergman who he took to pieces, and he looked much better than Khaliq against common opponents.

Hare will bounce back, and I think he is the better all around fighter of the two. I think people are premature about writing Hare off, he has wonderful boxing skills and exquisite timing, he had a bad night.

3 fights in 3 months, 5 fights in 03, and 5 in 02 is a bit of a punishing schedule especially if you are not getting the chance to break camp for more than a few weeks at a time.

It's a good win for Khaliq, but Julio looked leaden footed to say the least.

I think it's about time politics were put aside while these guys are in something near prime form and let's get the matchups on. Here we have three guys at Welterweight with different styles which could make for some exciting fights, the sad fact is it will probably all filter out and we will end up with a situation similar to the Light Middleweight division in Britain, in other words an opportunity lost.

I thought Khaliq did very well and is certainly proving to be a better fighter than I thought a year or two ago, he is definitely improving.

Sure Julio was a Hatton type opponent, you know good name but sliding slightly and from a weight below but even so Khaliq performed well.

Perhaps he is world class after all, good luck to him....

Wasn't there talk a while back about Khaliq facing Vernon Forrest? I remember because a writer on Secondsout was pleading for it not to happen because he felt Khaliq would get badly hurt, judging by his wins over guys like Willie Wise and now Julio i think Forrest would have fought worse guys than Khaliq.
