Scott has since sadly passed away. My thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad and difficult time.

Scott was very popular in the South Yorkshire area and will be sadly missed within and beyond the boxing community.

Scott Brookes had 4 fights - its times like this I feel guilty as I only saw his middle 2 fights - one was against Dave Ingleby at Dom Valley and the other was on the Wood/Gonzalez undercard last September against Hastings Rasani - I remember doing my normal of screaming through the ropes telling him to keep his hands up and Nobby Nobbs joining in the banter everytime his lad Hastings landed anything trying to influence the Ref!! - Scott did well in the fight and I thought he would do okay for himself.

Scott was a typical young lad - full of life and full of laughs - he thoroughly enjoyed the boxing banter that went on in the gym - I remember losing my rag at Dennis/Richard & clinton and others because I was the one getting picked on at the time and shouting at Scott "what the f*ck are you laughing at" - which made him giggle even more!!

He was just a thoroughly decent young Yorkshire lad who had a good life ahead of him and he will be badly missed by anyone who knew him!!!

Scott - RIP

It's even more tagic (if that's possible) when they're young. My thoughts are with his family.

This is aweful.
The boxing community is very close in South Yorkshire - despite the rivalry between the Gyms often played out in the press and each and everyone in the game will be highly saddened by this.
My condolences go to his family and friends.
I know that this will hit Dennis very hard in particular - and he has the unenviable task of relating this news to Clinton at a time when he needs to be totally focused.
Do it for Scott, Clinton - bring that belt back to Sheffield safe and sound.
