Roberto Duran & Mythbusters

Post by zojo »

Hi all,

I am sure many of you have heard about that story about Duran KOing a horse to prove how hard he hit.

I am not sure if that is true or is a myth. So I sent a blurb to the folks on Mythbusters to see if they can replicate this story without hurting a real animal.

That'd be interesting.

A guy in the small town I grew up in KO'd a horse. He was rather large and clocked it near its ears.

It sickened me to see it. I was only young at the time, I dont recall the details. The guy took a wild angry ugly swing, hit the horse, it went down on its knee and leg and looked in pain. The fat dog laughed as though he was a hero.

My mum and the hundred of other people there with horses went to him and went of at him.

It does not suprise me that Duran could KO a horse, could have been a shetland poiny for all we know.

Duran was drunk. And there as a 'bird' involved. Duran was once mugged by a big black guy in Miami in the late 1980s while out doing some roadwork (that's a first) - well, the big black guy, who Duran believes was on PCP, tried to mug him and Duran knocked him down again and again until the guy stayed down.
"He kept getting up," said Duran.

Craziest story I heard about Duran, was that he supposedly once bought a small airplane on the spot and with no experience, tried to fly it and crashed into the ocean. He then allegedly swam a couple hundred feet back to shore after scrambling out of the plane.

Of course Duran knocked the horse out. What 135lb man (if Duran was even that big when this supposedly happened) couldn't?

Still not as impressive as Pep winning a round without throwing a punch, though...

i know i'm way off topic here, but could you imagine if jones or mayweather won a round without throwing a punch. there would be a federal investigation. but since it's pep, it's remarkable. btw, pep was freaking incredible.
