Former Florida Heavyweight Champion, Levi Forte, 63, was seen in training at South Beachs' 7th Street Gym recently. Word around town suggests Forte is keen on a rematch with former two time World Heavyweight Champion George Foreman!!!! Foreman, 55, announced he was returning to the ring after a 7 year retirement for "One last bout". Big George has a record of 76-5 with 68 knockouts. He wants to return to competition at 225lbs. Forte, a head doorman at a luxury Miami Beach hotel, last fought in 1999 in a failed comeback against Ike Poole in Miami.
Turning pro in 1961, Forte compiled a ring record of 19-28-2 with 9 knockouts. He defeated Ollie Wilson for the Florida Heavyweight Title in 1964. Forte fought many of boxing big names during his colorful career including Floyd Patterson, Al"Florida"Jones, George Chuvallo and Chip Johnson. Foreman and Forte fought on December 16, 1969, and Foreman won a tough 10 round decision over the slick-boxing Forte.
