What is your opinion of that? I have a bet on KO 5-th round :)
That's how it was announced, so I'm not sure how the bookies will handle it.
Nice boxing by Romanov. Well picked shots. Slicing punches. I can't see Khan fighting him. If Willie Limond had Khan in such trouble...Khan does have the movement to trouble Romanov, but at some point class and power tells which IMO favours Romanov pretty heavily.
Out of the 3 lightweight prospects that are in Ring Magazine's top 10, Romanov is better and more proven than Khan and Anthony Peterson. Credit to Romanov, as he actually has FIGHTS.
How does this affect the British lightweight scene? Thaxton now has been totally outclassed so will he bring any glory to the young lightweights like Murray and Fewkes aside for the British title.

Paddy has it 6-th round and i am almost sure that they went to boxrec.com to get it:) I saw the other source: http://www.britishboxing.net to have it on 5-th round. Thaxton never went out from his corner to start the sixth round, when the referee went at him, Romanov has started with celebrations, and entire corner of Thaxton never left the ring, so according the rules it must been TKO or RTD 5-th round

The bell rang to start the 6th....
Ref asked Thaxton to walk to him, then he stopped it.
Warren will surely try to make it look like Khan's better without ever making the fight between Khan and Romanov.
He might say that Khan stopped Earl in 1, whereas Romanov lost to Earl.
He might say Khan smashed up Kristiansen (if it happens of course), and Kristiansen drew with Zoff who gave Romanov a hard fight.
Anything but go the direct route. I suppose why would anyone do that, if they can sidestep the truth and make loads of money?
The thing is, Romanov has been hardened by taking awkward fights while inactive (Earl) or sick (Zoff). And followed bad showings with brilliant ones. The sign of a good fighter is one who can come back better from a hard fight. Good man, Romanov.
Sadly this could be the last time we see him on UK shores of he's vacating the EBU to go for a world crown.
Romanov wont be interested in Khan right now as he'll persue a world title next .Probably fight Khan in defense of world title later on. Hopefully Khan will have improved by then.
Terrible cut .. and felt bad for Jon .. but what he showed was still enough to have `Trash-Khans` people too nervous to match him.
Jon managed to land a few meaty shots .. maybe not his best - but certainly enough to highlight he would still land...I rate his performance better than his last few British title defences .. the difference in opponent maybe hid that.
Romanov is so tight in defence, and a solid short puncher.
Khans biggest asset is his speed moving in and flurrying .. this has been enough to overwhelm his opponents so far .. but with Romanovs tight defence and quick short punches it spells defeat for `Trash-Khan`.. sooner or later Yuri would time him coming in .... and with a china-like chin
Thaxton v Khan? .. I`d guess 40/60 Khan
Romanov v Khan .. 70/30 Romanaov

Okay Romanov is good... no disputing this, but he was throwing meaty shots miles away from the target - that were not even close.
Khan would do much better vs Romanov... and he'd definately beat Thaxton.
You mean Thaxton? Romanov was pretty accurate and his punch economy impressive, especially vs a herky jerky switch hitter.
Props to Thaxton for taking the fight and having a good try. Khan won't do this, not with Warren. I think other Hennessy fighters like Barker and Murray can go the domestic, Euro and maybe world route in the traditional sense.

When a fighter retires on his stool, the bell for the next round should always be rung and it count as a stoppage in the next round. It is not always adhered to though.
On the Thaxton-Khan front, please give it up. This will never happen. Saying Khan will take the fight because he has nothing to fear now is just daft I think. Even if this was true, (we really don't know anything different about Thaxton now), neither Warren or Hennessy will give up the right to promote the fight to the other.
That is why the fight didn't happen before. Promoters may say they are happy for a figher to appear on somebody elses show, but then they put ridicolous obstacles in the way and make paper counter offers....

khan would get picked apart by that kid.
Sounds like a potential classic- Khan - Romanov. Really, of course, if Khan wants to be a World Champion he should master the European Champion first. But then, when does it ever work like that?
in an 'ideal' world, maybe you shouldnt be allowed to fight for a world belt without being 'regional' or at least national champ.... still, that might require a return to one belt territory.

Sorry badly worded by me... yeah, I meant Thaxton. He was throwing bad intention shots that you could see in advance were not going to be close to catching Ramanov.
