I've not seen the hotly-disputed Lonsdale belt, but like all similar baubles, I'd say it's only as good as the man wearing it.

I always felt Danny was capable of a lot more physically than his psyche would allow, I wonder how much he enjoys fighting sometimes. He seems to be a very down chap a lot of the time.

However, having the physical tools is less than half the battle, it's the mental aspect which seperates world champions from also-rans.

However, Danny was/is a cut above your average fighter, and I don't think he deserves to be called shit.

Danny Williams has let himself down...I`m sure he knows this better than anyone.
I hope he does sort himself out because anybody who has spoken to him will tell you he is a nice a person as you could meet.
He has got the tools, though for some reason he does not use them.
As for lacking heart..who could question a person who gets between the ropes in the first place.

in world terms i've never been convinced with williams, he's a good domestic heavyweight but no more than that.

so is this hide-williams fight going ahead???? i've heard rumours of purse bids is it true???

with both fighting for different backers,BBC an SKY there is little chance they will fight, neither hold a title that I know of, unless somebody has formed a new one in the last few hours, there are a few letters from in the alphabet that have not been put together to form the initials of some boxing body. vbx, nbg could be good??
So no real reason why they must fight....money?????????????

Ive got nothing but respect for Danny, he conducts himslef in a gentlemanly manner which is more can be said for the likes of hide, also he gave me one of the the most awesome nights boxing to watch from the perspective of heart (albeit from my armchair). Ok he could have been a contender and now looks destined to just be a domestic heavy and yeah shame it seems a waste of talent but I agree to call him shit, is bang out of order in my view, I would have loved to have won what he has at his level in any sport. Cut the guy some slack. You never know he might sort it out, I for one hope he does. : :D

maybe i sound so harsh because i had such high hopes way back in 2001..... people with far less talent but a ton more balls have done so much more (botha, shannon briggs, etc)

Totally agree Dude, I was so dissapointed with Danny also after his recent efforts adn bottling it agianst a very limited Sinal Sam who he should really have the tools to have taken apart (and sprott). But I have to say I like they guy thats whats so frustrating!
