Jennings Fight

Thoughts? Jennings looks good , but the other guy- a bit lackluster. The stoppage was, never the less, premature- he obviously wasn't hurt.

Jennings really needs to get moving up in class again now.

Who is the Commonwealt Welter Champ? European? I'd love to see Jennings fight for the european belt, I think he is certainly good enough.

to answer your question the Commonwealth welter champ is Craig Watson who surprisingly (maybe not to any Watson afficionados) took th estrap from Ali Nuumbembe (albeit on a cut) who himself had separated the belt from the waist of Kevin Anderson netting me a few quid in the process

the european title is held by an African lad who boxes out of Belgium of all places whose name is Jackson Onsei Bonsu who apparently hits like a steam train.
Never seen the fella box but I believe the Boxing News told us not so long back that he was getting beat by some Italian I THINK and he came back with some heavy artillery to stop the geezer.

I think Jennings is the next natural choice of British boxer to challenge for this sort of a title off the top of my head. Anderson needs to go back to the drawing board domestically, Watson has just lost by stoppage to an Itai for something called the EU or EBU title not to be confused with the proper European title, and Jennings it would appear, having held the British already could really do to step on up.

At this rate Kevin Mcintyre could get there first with all of 5 defeats to his name I believe.

On a seperate point what the eff happened to Crolla tonight?

Was his fight televised? I didnt see it.

Arnie - whats the story?

'crasshing dashing kid' usually has something to say where Crolla is concerned..

Big upset in my eyes; I thought Crolla was going places - over 8 rnds I would have thought he would have had the edge over the Chris Aston trained Syrian.

Any updates?

Didn't Barry McG & Duke McK make it sound like Jennings had just given a masterclass in the art of boxing, rivalling only the pretty decent SR Robinson for flawless technique?

Watching the reply (just before he is interviewed) it appears that this was a premature stoppage.

Jennings whacks him flush wth a great punch, and the Georgian's gumshield goes flying. But the Georgain responded immediatly with a right that catches Jennings pretty flush. The ref should have called time out for a new gum shield to be fitted, not just stopped it.

Jennings was very professional as per usual, but the opponent was poor.

I believe the lad must be extremely frustrated at not having a European title fight, as yet.

The stoppage was definitley premature. The other guy threw a good counter, then the ref jumped in. Looks good on the record though, which sadly is what it's all about these days.

Stoppage only hurried up the inevitable 'W', but Jennings was given the room to look good. This is a deep division he is in, and he has to get a move on.

It was on ITV4 fella. He had a nasty 3 inch cut and faded away in the latter rounds. I was surprised the ref gave it to the correct fighter.

Jennings put on a masterclass. I don't usually enjoy watching him, but he delivered in great style. Shame about the silly ref jumping in too quick. It does annoy me the inconsistency of British referee's. This one jumps in too quickly, then you have Dave Parris bending over backwards trying to get Derry Matthews through a disaster.

And Mickey Vann totally overlooking Khan hiiting his opponent 4 times while he was on the deck and then repeating the offence after the 2nd knockdown.

Scandalous.

What are the rules on this, is it either overlooked or disqualification, is any official "half-way" house?

Point deductions etc?

Khan was very, very fortunate I felt to escape without a DQ. What would Vann have done if the Dane had refused to get up?
