Sturm is a very weak title holder and it was a very bad loss.
i agree. sturm is there to be beaten.

sturm is no calzage, but he is world class, as his close points loss to DLH proves.

lets hope jamies loss will catapult him to another level of self improvement. often a loss will teach you more than a win.

otherwise he may turn into another alsoran.

I don't want people to think I am always putting aussie fighter down because i love boxing but, looking at Pittmans record it is highly pumped with nobodies, for exampl. Of his last 6 fights his opponents have fought a total of 121 times for only 70 wins. Is this the way to get a world title fight? Sturm probably looked at Pittman the way Mundine looks at his opponents, No chance of causing an upset and over matched

I just hope Jamie now realises he needs time in the ring with professional fighters and not cab drivers

I agree Grant, His opposition was ordinary and it didnt serve him well. The silly thing is that there are half a dozen decent fighters here that could have really tested him before he even ventured over to Germany.

No Shame Here

Interesting points of view and winners are grinners as they say!

I'd like to know the credentials of those who class Jamie as a pub / club fighter - they ceratinly don't have the credentials of the WBA judges......who gave Pitty the 1st two rounds.......head clashed at the end of the second caused the cut and his eye then closed completely.

In saying that, he still battled on gamely despite no vision at all in his right eye and was a 'sitting duck' - I was there and I can assure you the Germans were very impressed with Jamie's skill and courage, as were the WBA officials.

No shame in the loss and Mr Business will be back better than ever - he knows he can compete on this level - the better guy won on the night but club fighter......this comment is so far away from the truth it is a disgusting and uninformed comment and is obviously designed to hurt Jamie and his followers and is so far of the mark it is not funny - Jamie is a credit to boxing and Australians in general and I am proud to be associated with him.

It's not Jamie's courage that people are questioning, but there is the perception that he is not taking on the more than capable opponents already based on these shores, eg. Geale; Dawson; Soliman; Taylor etc.

you take a shot if its offered to you....esspecially when you are only 26 yo. jamie had nothing to lose. he'd fought international opponents before, and was a well credentialed amatuer.

18 pro fights is enough if you are good enough. jamie was fighting for the title against the weakest champ in the MW division. he had a chance. he blew it this time. lets hope he can grow and have another shot.

next time, the champ he faces may be more formidable than sturm though....
