NEW PROCEDURES?

Post by drdatabox »

1) As of 4/10/8 I cannot enter or edit data which I have regularly done almost daily for about three years. Has something changed?
2) Editing has been purging references to Data Boxing while keeping the data.
3) Editing has been miscreditng data from Data Boxing to Compubox. For example the Malignaggi-Ngoudjo bout was on Showtime, which Compubox does not work for. Data Boxing submitted the blows under its name, and the editors credited Compubox. Data Boxing existed before Compubox and works for free. Why the favoritism?

I'm guessing its because you keep such a low profile and no one knows anything about this supposed DataBox, so they just assume its CompuBox.

I've asked several times about these stats on the Current Scene but got no response... so I'm guessing others are in the dark as well.

DATA BOXING

Post by drdatabox »

Data Boxing has existed as a research priject since 1967. The game version was sold 1976-80, but kept alive by aficionados and boxing scholars for twenty years more. The computer version of the game became available around 2005. The continuing researcher from the beginning has been Julian E Compton, a humanities professor, and member of the International Boxing Research Organization. The project is probably best known for originating the counting of all blows -lefts and rights, to head and body, hits and misses, as well as controls(All other events except attempts). This led to new categories of boxing analysis, which most progressive fans and historians welcomed. The computer version is famous for its unfailing program and probably the best data retrieval system in all of sports games. It is done by Don Mankowski, a NASA programmer. The game is marketed by DowneyGames.com, which is run by Jeff Downey, a rerspected fixture in the sports gaming world.
