What are you talking about? No one is suggesting Hatton is going to walk through Pinto, that's what all the fuss is about. It a genuinely competitive fight, which almost everone accepts is a 50/50.
People are either slightly favouring Ricky or Pinto, not one post predicts confidently as Pinto is such a un-known over here.
The ONLY thing that would be a surprise come fight time is if Hatton ended it quick. A quick win for Pinto, or a points win for either, or a cuts win for Pinto are all un-surprising results as far as I am concerned.

So it's difficult bouts with guys like Gatti, Tszyu, Zab......or an unproven guy like Pinto: no contest really, and worth the risk

PINTOS record is pretty hollow. Frank isnt stupid unless HATTON is in there with a 80-20 chance the fight wouldnt happen.

Actually Bennie after speaking with a few people it seems that of all the possible opponents this Pinto looks like the easiest on paper.

So Frank has seen a video of Pinto and he's crap then?

What I have seen is the surface area his ribs present. The guys like 30% ribs!!. This has to work in Hatton's favour

yeah thats the thing that annoys me about this fight, that wbo interim tag, so that means hattons gonna win that bloody wbo title, and is never gonna take on the big fish in the division he'll just end up making god knows how many defences in the men arena.

More of an observation really, based on what has been said in this thread. In reference to him being protected, it seems to me (could be wrong) that when a boxer is challenaged by a rated fighter in the top ten or twenty and avoids, ignores, won't comment on, etc..., and instead takes an un-ranked fighter, that the preception of being protected is justified. (JMO)

Aren’t the top two guys supposed to fight for the WBO interim title?

Did # 1 Cotto & # 3 Witter, ranked higher in the WBO than the # 4 Hatton turn down the opportunity?

Isn't Witter's promoter suposed to look out after him? :(

Wasn’t Hatton dropped from the WBO rankings last year for avoiding a mandatory challenge?

Did fank worry pay up his WBO dues?

Only the WBA rates Pinto besides the WBO, and only 12th at that…
So isn’t Hatton risking too much internationally with a small return? 8)
Isn’t this another 2nd level fight which almost everyone accepts as a 50/50?

Warren is a joke and all you people are falling for it, Pinto is nowhere near the best at 140 and after 30 odd fights Hatton should be fighting a legit 140 pounder. Hatton should win this fight if he is as good as you brits think he is, then he will do the same as Calzaghe and never leave England and claim he is the best in the division while fighting hand picked opponents. He will probably retire having never fought a world class opponent, but you blokes will say all the good fighters avioded him but really Warren offered them less money than they already get to fight.

Any of the top 5 140 pounders will easily beat Hatton and Warren knows that . That is why you lot are being fed this crap about Pinto being a great fighter who might just beat the overhyped Hatton.

thanks knight Shadow for the clarification dude, Ben when you say any of the top five would beat hatton who exactly? As posted previously Gatti is made for hatton and is past his prime, Cotto wont fight hatton yet, Kostya is injured and possibly finished we dont know yet, reckon he will fight mitchell by the end of the year so who are these great top five fighters who are ahead of hatton in the picking order, witter? gimme a break, I think hatton would be Zab cos we have seen Zab has got a glass jaw and dont like it when it gets real hard , Chop chop corley?
OI really want to know who these top five guys who are gonna bash Ricky up, no-one really thinks they would have an easy night against hatton and I for one think he holds his own with the best up there and I think you will find out over the next 18 months you do forget guy is only 25 and I recko he is moving along nicely.

This quote says that when choosing an opponent out of Gatti, Tszyu, Zab, Pinto. There's no contest. You have to pick Pinto. It makes NO suggestion on how the fight will pan out, just that Pinto is the weakest of the 4 on paper, and surely this is beyond question?

This quote outlines an area that will work in Hatton's favour. Pinto is tall, and Hatton likes tall guys. It doesn't suggest how the fight will pan out.

Tszyu, Mitchell, Judah, Spadafora, Gatti, Lieja, Corley, Harris, Urkal, Cotto, i have probably forgoten some more but i can't think of any more off the top of my head

Who can you say that Gatti is made for him isn't it the other way around, Gatti would KO Hatton within 4-5 rounds, Tszyu would retire him and the rest would completely out box him. Judah has a soft chin but only one man has proved that and Hatton aint in the same league as Tszyu.

And due if you read my earlier posts all the guys you are putting up there, wont fight due to injury etc Ive addressed this so why dont read it dude rather than just quoting, the rest of them arent in hattons class or are on the slide, seems to me theres a lot of people here who are just out to knock hatton, if he fights seasoned pro's they are on the slide over the hill (spadafora would be one example). Or if he fights up and comers he is fighting no hopers to be honest if that is the way you are thinking then nothing anyone says or argues is gonna change your mind. Try opening up to others opinions a little more try it go on I dare ya.

I agree with dynamite dean, pinto is the easiest fight out there for hatton, alot of the people pinto has fought have poor records, the ist time he stepped up he went the distance, when pinto goes into the men arena he'll freeze, pint is a tall kid, hatton will keep his chin down and smash his body to pieces, hatton ko round 5.

Exactly, spadafora would probably have gotten beaten resoundingly, anyone with no punch is in trouble against Hatton, as he has a stout chin, closes the gap quickly, has fast hands, a good workrate, and seemingly thus far at least, fantastic stamina.

Against a light puncher Hatton doesn't need to win by KO, as his aggresive non-stop punching style is tailor made to win round against defensive fighters with little pop.

He reminds me of a young Tyson in that respect, though nowhere near as big a puncher of course, Tyson even when he was taken the distance never came close to losing a fight, because his opponent's offence was negated by them having to cover up and move most of the time.

i cant see no one outworking him in a big fight.
a lot of these fighters at 140 wont relish rickys bodypunching, fighters who seem invincible can crumble under a sustained assault on the torso.
especially the guys in this division over thirty. believe me ben, kostas and the rest wont be looking forward to meeting hatton.

I like Hatton and hope he does well, but i suspect Warren has an alterior motive here or at least knows something we don't. If Pinto is as has been suggested (by his record for starters!) so dangerous then why the hell is Frank bringing him over here against (Nasty's words) his cash cow. When Calzaghe fought big punching Byron Mitchell we knew who he was, the casual fan knew who he was as he had exposure here after his fights with Sven Ottke (Eurosport) and Julio Cesar Green (SKY Highlights) were both shown. But Pinto is an unknown to the causal observer here, a damn near unknown to me in fact! Before he was due to fight Witter i frantically e mailed some American posters and alas they knew precious more than me about this Brazilian puncher. So if Hatton wins the fight against a guy that Colin Hart has probably never even heard of then will it propel him in the British media like a win against say a Judah or Tszyu would? No, so why is he being given this everything to lose risk fight? Well it takes me back to my original question, does Warren know something we don't?

He's in his seventh year as a pro, is about to have his 35th pro fight, and his fans are still talking about him like he's some 20-year-old prospect, who still needs another 10 or 20 or 30 fights before it's safe for him to take on the established world-class guys - more for their protection than his, of course.

I think that maybe by speculating whether or not Hatton would beat Spadafora was wrong and i withdraw that comment, however i was really making the point that overhyped Spadafora is the epitomy of the protected hometown fighter and has beaten no one of note to earn his status as a world rated fighter.

Spadafora has at least been in with the the likes of Dorin, and whether you agree with the decision or not (probably the latter,) at least he was competitive. But if Spaddy is overrated at BoxRec #6, Hatton at #1 is simply laughable, based on who he's actually fought. The punch that stoped Zab Judah would have also stopped Hatton.

Judah is a level above Hatton in all other categories.
Gatti is made for hatton and Hatton is made for Gatti, the diference is that Gatti is better technically and punches harder.

Who said Cotto won’t fight Hatton yet ?

Chop Chop Corley offered # 1 WBO contender Hatton a shot and he ran and hid under Jose sillymans WBC desk.
In the past few years he also ran from title shots from Tzyu & Harris, eliminatories from Branco & Urkal…Remember the bullshit about it being written in Hatton’s contract to fight Witter? “Frankly Worried” didn’t put it in Witter’s contract did he?

Yeah…Mitchell’s on the slide, barely beat Ndou, etc., etc.
Ndou called out Hatton a while ago and got nothing but silence.
Wouldn’t this have been the perfect time to fight him?

I guess, Mohamad Abdulaev, Francisco Bojado, David Diaz Leonard Dorin, James Leija, Souleyman Mbaye, Paul Spadafora & Omar Weis, are all afraid of Ricky too.

I can’t say too much about Pinto having only seen him a few times…but at least he’s the undisputed best in his country which is more then Hatton has accomplished.
It would not surprise me if he beats Hatton.

The fact is Hatton has been moved carefully but well, and you will see how good he actually is in the next year or so, sure he has his limitations, but he's a much better boxer than people give him credit for, and isn't such a crude slugger.

Hatton took three HUGE uppercuts from Phillips, and stayed on his feet, the shot Judah took was no harder than those shots. Hatton has a better chin than Judah, and Judah might look good against Jaime Rangel, but he didn't look so bloody good against Chop Chop.

Let's see how good Judah looks when he's getting his ribs caved in and being harried all over the ring shall we?

I think you are mistaken Hatton is a decent fighter but he is far from world class and fighting the likes of Pinto is not proving a thing. The day he fights a Judah or Tszyu or Mitchell or Cotto or Gatti he will get some respect, After 35 fights he is still only a prospect, After 4 fights Tszyu fought an ex world champ.

Phillips was too far passed his best (Had only won 5 of last 10.) to follow up on those uppercuts. Judah didn’t have a hometown referee who delayed the action like Hatton did in his knockdown by Magee either.

I have made this point before but I'll say it again. Whay does Hatton have to fight Cotto to prove HE'S world class. Come on Hatton has done far more than Cotto to prove that he's a world class fighter. I agree with the other names their just not Cotto, he has still got far more proving to do than Hatton.
