Is the Woods fight security in case Joe loses?

Post by deadpan »

Is the Woods-Calzaghe fight being mooted now in case Joe comes unstuck? If Clinton wins I'd expect the fight to still go ahead (a la Collins-Benn) and Joe still then can go out as a two weight champ.

I can think of no other reason that the fight has already been provisionally set up.

I don't think Calzaghe will fight again if he loses. Too mentally weak etc.

I disagree with you there. I'm still very unsure as to what fight Joe will end on. He obviously wants the Pavlik fight the most, because Pavlik's style is absolutely made for him. The Jones Jr fight might happen because it will make more money?

I don't think Calzaghe wants to fight Woods, purely because he will earn more money in the States. So I guess I agree, the Woods fight is just a backup in case he loses.

Although in all honesty I'm not sure I'm talking complete sense. :D

No, it's a massive British fight that can get American money if both Joe and Clinton win in America. It's simple.

Is Pavlik really megafight material yet? Methinks he's not found his full audience yet.

Don't think Joe fights on after a defeat.

Luvya. :TU:

So...
vs Woods - Massive domestic potential?
vs Jones Jr - Massive International appeal due to 2 big names?
vs Pavlik - Great style match-up but not enough of a name for Pavlik?
