Need the records of some 60's Florida fighters.

Post by Eddie Cantor »

Hi. I'm a new member. I'm a retired fellow living in South Florida. I've scanned through the seach results, but new some additional information about 4 Florida fighters: Ken Klingman(middleweight), Joe Lupo(Welterweight), Carlton Starling(Middleweight) and Elvis Yero(Welterweight).
I'm sort of a research "buff". I'd like to cross reference my records for these fighters with someone else's, if possible. For instance. I have Ken Klingman as 20-0 with 20 Knockouts. Boxrec has him listed as 11-0. Carlton Starling, I have as 7-3-1 and he is listed as 3-2-1. Elvis Yero I have as 15-2, he is listed as 15-1, and Joe Lupo is incomplete. I have a bout with Tippy Larkin, box rec has him 5-4.
Also wondering if anyone knows the complete record of Dorian Malamed, and what happened to him. I recall as a teenage amateur he was 44-0 with 42 knockouts. Believe he turned pro and knockedout Miami's John L. Johnson, but that's all I have on him.
I do find some "vast" differences on my records for Al Jones(Opla Locka, FL) and Al Migliorato(Miami Beach,FL). I have Jones listed as 33-3-1 and Migliorato as 45-4-1. My record for Jeff Merritt lists him as 19-3. Any ideas on how I can find the "right" answers.
I researched these gentleman through my collection of RING, BOXING ILLUSTRATED Magazines, my old ring record books-(oldedst 1975), and the Miami Herald, Miami News, Sun Post old editions dating back to the 1950's, 1960's, etc.
Best wishes to all.
