That is probably the finest win for an Australian heavyweight since Aussie Joe Bugner beat Greg Page in 1987. (Kali Meehan is a Kiwi-Fijian for me! )
Craig Petersen stopping Alex Stewart isn't far behind though it was a shame what happened to Petersen who could have done something with his career and life!
However Mark seems a decent, clean living sort of chap and Mahone had a damn good record coming into the fight in Auckland so it is a good win in my book! Congratulations Mark!
Although Mahone is a shell of his former self it was a very good win for Mark. I watched the fight, Mark fought alot more conservatively than usual but was justified given Mahones reputation as a banger and his vast experience Mark outboxed and beat Mahone to the punch time and time again.
beating a former world title challenger is a huge win for me, he is not what he once was, but i think my tactics made him look worse, i refused to let him fight his fight and took away his comfort punch, the jab. i was brought in as the "opponent" but knew if i stuck to my game plan i could win, i had some good sparring with pieter cronje and lawrence tauasa to prepare me
