was good to see you in action Bill, I reckon you done alright in there - could have used the uppercut more, we was saying that you looked good with it on the inside.

Thanks billy i wouldn't of counted knock down rounds 10-8 i would of done it by 1 point winning the round and 0 for not. If it was like that i would of scored it 2-1 to you. I think the judges didnt want to score it a draw so gave the close rounds to Ferguson.

yeah i know i should have used it more but never mind eh. yeah id be up for it but hopefully(as a boxing fan) next time it comes around it is full of the top boys so i wont get in it. although i dont think i looked too out of my depth in there

nah mate, like RealDeal and yourself said, you couldnt have argued with a draw based you winning the last two. We (Me, Emerson, Dirk) all definetly gave you the second. You looked a bit heavy and unsteady mate, did training go ok?

all i will say is if you can get more fitter you would deffently win an area title and maybe an english title so keep up the good work

Thanks to you and all of the other fighters involved for giving it all you had. I was sceptical beforehand but found it to be very entertaining. The fact it clearly meant so much to you all made it even better. Well done.

Billy, I was behind Ferguson's support. You gave them a dirty look when you entered the ring. lol

I thought you did really well. Your boxing technique was much better than Ferguson's, you just didn't have the conditioning or strength to win in 3 rounds, imo.

I think the cheer you got was second only to Dolan's. What's great is that I think everyone had a really wicked night. All of you boxers put on a fantastic showing.

well done billy, it was a great night and you certainly gave it a go, just wish you had a bit better conditioning and a bit more of a dig, but you certainly did yourself proud as you 'duked' it out. shame you did not box ibbs, im sure you could have taken him.

I'll put the photos up on Facebook for you Bill as we had a good vantage point in the balcony behind your corner. I thought you drew the fight on points, but won over the three rounds.

Most of the arena was behind Billy. Think that says a lot about what people think about him.

Well done Billy. I thought you deserved the decision, and on the Sky show Nelson was clearly heard saying he had thought that you won.
I was surprised at how strong you looked, which took Ferguson by surprise aswell I think.
With a bit more general fitness I think you could exceed your own expectations about how far you could go in a couple of fights.

True it knocked the bollocks out of Ferguson, who i thought did well to last the rounds against Rogan after looking spent in the first round.

What would have happened in the tournament in the event of a draw? I missed it if they explained during the broadcast?

Scoring 3 rounds with the pro scoring system could easily make this happen.

I thought the final was booked for a draw until Dolan went down a second time.

Get knocked down in the first and lose 8-10, then win the next two 10-9 and voila...

i thought you won Billy it was certainly a close fight and you come back well from the knockdown.......funny in a way that out of all 8 boxers the one with the most fans and the boxrec thread in his honour is on his backside inside two minutes........bit ironic I thought! but you saw the final bell so it wasn't all bad.

I thought it was a quality evening's entertainment albeit I watched on TV.

I think (not that it was a consumate evening for him by any stretch of the imagination) that Dave Dolan is capable of becoming British Champion in the next 2 years or so. I hope so as he has a lovely style........if he can make it past 6 rounds against the BIG guys he can really come on strong with his fitness and fast hands for a heavy.

as for the format I Don't believe it will succeed at thej lower weights as frankly what boxers/promoters are going to let their boxers knock 7 shades out of each other........think about about the punch count thrown compared to gassed out heavies.

My proposal: get Martin Rogan back as the Champ to "defend his title".......get Dolan back as an honourary fighter having reached the final........and the run the tourney again with a few other decent heavies who were not involved first time round. There'd have to be a limit to how good you could be.....no point having someone like Sprott who on size alone stands a chance of scoring 3 first round KOs before his experience/pedigree is even considered.

You could run this format 3 times a year, centred on Heavies, with a defending champ squaring off against a field of "all-comers"..........it's a great reward for Rogan too on his win. I'd never even heard of Martin Rogan, great spirit and agression combined with good skills.......I wouldn't write him out of the title scene too soon.

When i looked at the review in boxing news on the page before their was a poster of everyone in it and apart from David Dolan eveyone looked fat. Maybe it was before the training i dont know. But thats the problem with domestic hw they dont really look like athletes.

There have been many cases of a fighter looking like a great athlete getting sparked by a fighter who looked out of shape!

The problem with the domestic heavyweight scene is people actually expecting too much from them.

Give the guys a break!
Britain very rarely produces a top, top Heavyweight yet some forget this and expect to witness Ali v Frazier when they tune into a domestic(remember what this word stands for in Boxing lads)Heavyweight fight.

Take the domestic scene for what it is.
Game guys, not quite good enough to step up that extra level trying to provide entertainment and more than anything earn a few quid the hard way!

Prizefighter was quality TV(wish I had gone)and one of the most enjoyable Boxing events in recent times.

the key thing is, and what made it all a great tv spectacle...was that every fighter went in there to win, because winning meant more money, and winning meant more tv exposure.

Well done Billy, I think yours was the only contest where you could have questioned the decision. Your right hand happy approach had Ferguson looking concerned.
