Showtime For John Murray?

British lightweight hope John Murray is taking a high risk fight vs unbeaten John Fewkes in May. It's supposed to be on Showtime's ShoBox series. However, I have seen the recent press release by Wellington and it says "Showtime for Froch & Witter" with no mention of Murray and Fewkes.

This sounds a bit ominous by omission.

Now, excuse me for asking a dumb question. But isn't ShoBox made for fights like Murray v Fewkes? And another - since Witter was added to the show deadlined by Froch v Inkin, has Witter taken Murray and Fewkes' big audience away from them?

On all the schedules I've looked at it no longer says 'Showtime' next to the Murray v Fewkes fight

They really need to show this fight between two prospects given that Showtime focuses on prospects. Maybe they'll show delayed highlights of that fight if the other fights end early?

The fight's definitely on, but the TV situation seems a bit murky. Can't Wellington or Box Office just flat out say Yes or No, re the Showtime?

Why couldn't Murray have just fought on the Romanov-Thaxton undercard (by the same promoter, Hennessy) last Friday? (You see Thaxton get bludgeoned, you see Murray hopefulyl do well, and you have the next British title challenger...a symbolic night of lightweights; you know, the best, biggest money, most talented division in the UK!)

IMO they didn't put Murray-Fewkes at the York Hall last Fri (after the original date in Mar 29 got postponed) because Murray-Fewkes strengthened the Froch-Inkin show which goes out on ITV and Showtime. It helped sell a TV package yet doesn't get shown?

I hope it's on in the States, but why is there no mention whatsoever?

I am sure in Boxing news when the show was first cancelled they said that both the Froch & Murray fights will take place in May and will be on Showtime as well as ITV 1 for Froch and ITV 4 for Murray.

Just shows what the Hattons are saying when Witter brings nothing to the table that all he can do for exposure is take a prospects place on a prospects show.

Has anyone got the tv listings and time yet from ITV the last time Witter and Froch appeared on ITV 1 together there fights switched viewers off and stunk the place out.

Shame for John Murray hidden away on the undercard again in a good fight i assume he wont be getting many column inches for his profile to raise the stakes for a fight with Thaxton or Khan providing he wins.
Surely Murray v Fewkes could of had a Sky date , the fight is as good as a headliner or if not better then Barker v Bendall.

Is it me or have Hennessy Sports buried Murray, after his fight in America with Munguia? OK it was a very awkward performance. But this was no more awkward that Romanov's win over Steffano Zoff. Look what Romanov went on to do in his next fight; he outclassed Thaxton. Murray was capable of breaking Thaxton down as well.

Is it wise burying John Murray, when his brother Joe (world ama medallist) could be turning pro sometime soon??

Can't believe Showtime has bought a Froch and Witter double bill. I take it the execs over there haven't seen Witter-Kotelnik and Froch-Barney.

Hard fights like those make a tough fighter want to come back better.

FB - I like Witter, but IMO Kotelnik beat him.

Everyone tips murray, but fewkes is a very very live "underdog" in this. Arguably faced better oppo?

Murray fought Guebbas (who beat Danny Hunt) & Mendoza (unbeaten since).

Fewkes beat Watson (Commonwealth light welter champ) & good young fighter Haywood.

Murray has that extra seasoning - having had the fights in America, good practise BTW seeing how badly Woods did tonight - and a lot more maturity. Just look at how calm he is in there.

Woods was p1ss poor, you can't fight in someone's backyard and put in a performance like that. Tarver wasn't really that great either until suddenly in the 12th a fire was lit under his ass. Clinton looked nervous going in and he just wasn't throwing enough punches. Woods shit the bed tonight.
