Khan-Pacquiao building up?
Khan-Pacquiao building up?
I heard that Bob Arum is lining up Khan as a potential Pac opponent. Pac has to get by David Diaz for the WBC title and is open to a Khan fight.
Anyway, I hear Arum wants to put Khan on the undercard to Pac-Diaz, in order to help build things up... Kind of like the deal he had to match Andy Lee with Rubio on a Pavlik NYC undercard. Obviously Lee didn't get that far due to Brian Vera....US debut for Amir?
We thought things were moving way too fast for Khan with the Nate Campbell situation. Warren understandably wanted to "wait and see" if Casa and Campbell would sort out the WBO situation. But Casa decided to defend his Ring world title against Juan Diaz, upcoming. So obviously, there is little blocking Khan from a WBO shot at Campbell...Now things just seem to be getting a little ahead of themselves with Pac added to the equation!
Right now Khan has the raw talent but it has yet to be moulded. When you compare him to Romanov's almost serene, always well-balanced mode of combat, well, Romanov is the only man ready for Campbell just now.

Pac would weigh in around 145 and be the stronger harder hitting man. Khan would have a 4inch height advantage and reach advantage.Emerson Poncey Name Ghent wrote:Does anyone think the size difference will be a factor?
Pac has probablems with movers so how would he deal with a 5'10, fast, athletic, young mover? I know many would expect a Pac KO but Khans jab and movement many cause him problems and win rounds for the youngster. We'd expect Pacman to chop him down but Pac himself is open to Khans big shots and a way past prime Morales hurt, backed up and boxed the ears off Pac. Khan reminds me of Morales in some ways
BTW NO WAY IN A MILLION YEARS THIS HAPPENS SO ITS ALL THEORY
However, Warren can play along for a while, get Khan on a Pac undercard & have plenty of Pac fans get a good look at Khan while he's still a prospect, on HBO for some nice money, etc.Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:Pac would weigh in around 145 and be the stronger harder hitting man. What total b*llocks - lets say he wins - lets say whichever champion he fights - or even if he fights for a vacant title - after the win his promoter can only match him "softly" for so long at world level !!!hitman_hatton1 wrote:give amir the campbell fight.
let him go for the record.
if he loses he finds out what it's like with the top pro's.
if he wins he could be in for some mega pay days and the youngest british world champion ever. :P
Khan is in no way being rushed - okay in his early fights - yeah he got knock over jobs - but whether people like it or not - recent fights have shown flaws ones which would at present get exposed at world level - which logically has to make you think - Mr W arren and Amir Khan should have a little re think and match at European level and if insistant fringe world class if there is such a thing - maybe an old past it previous world champion but not some on the "Up" - he would get badly exposed very soon.
Amir Khan is supposedly one of the futures of British and World boxing - if he isn't apart from the obvious candidates who do we have in the professional ranks ready to come through?
Khan is big business - for "whoever" his promoter is and for his team - Khan is whether we like it one of the flagship fighters of British Boxing and as such he should not be rushed.
For one of those few occasions I completely agree with Mr W arren's approach.

i also think he should be held back.
but if he's keen then why not.
i'm a boxing fan and naturally i wanna see amir really tested.
for the long run i agree with a slower approach though.
ok.

Khan has had time to settle in in the division. If ITV and others want to compare him with Ali all the time, than he should prove he's good enough.hitman_hatton1 wrote:settle down spud.Spud wrote:What total b*llocks - lets say he wins - lets say whichever champion he fights - or even if he fights for a vacant title - after the win his promoter can only match him "softly" for so long at world level !!!hitman_hatton1 wrote:give amir the campbell fight.

Also for the future of British boxing look no further than David Haye
Khan is in too much of a hurry. When he can fight like he did vs Earl, consistently, he'll be ready. You know, relaxed, fluid, not trying too hard to impress, letting the shots go naturally with poise and power.
I think he should target Alex Arthur, when AA has lost to Guzman. Arthur will go at him like none of his other opponents really have done. Then how about the European title, if Romanov vacates it, pehraps against Melero. Then sensibly go for an American or Mexican who has a good chin, compact aggressive style.
I like Khan's fitness, enthusiasm, physical talent etc.
IF he did wind up taking Campbell's titles, he'd have to drop some and maybe only keep the WBO belt. OR, move up to light welter which is a solid but less spectacular division with arguably more holes to exploit.
