That really would be a case of first to land. Could be very similar to Thompson-Sellers.

However i lean towards the younger, fresher Maccarinelli. He's on the way up, hasn't taken close to the amount of punishment Carl has taken, nore been involved in the amount of wars.

I can't see it happening, Carl doesn't need the WBU title at hisstage of his career I think Hobson or Nelson are the two brits he's most likely to fight. Both hold more prestigious belts, Carl's IBO belt is more prestigious than Enzo's WBU title. Carl should try and get in the IBF title mix.

If the fight happens, I do lean towards Ezo, I think he has the speed and power to land cleanly, and I think Carl will stay down this time. I didn't buy his post fight interview, the fight was too close to being stopped for him to say it was a tactical decision (a bit like what he said about the first Eubank match).

Couldn't write old Carl off though.

I would also lean towards Macarinelli, although a bout between two chinny punchers would be fun i see Enzo as fresher and better equipped to win. It would cagey at first i would say with Enzo cautious and using his jab with Thompson doing pretty much what he did against Rothmann, taking shots and stumbling forward waiting for that big shot. I doubt it would come though, i think Enzo would land first and when he does it would not be like Rothmann hitting Carl it would knock out his senses. So i would expect Enzo TKO3 Thompson, of course i could be totally wrong and they could both come out throwing leather in a slugfest, but i doubt it.

I know that Chris Aston was on the phone to Tomy Gilmour as soon as Rothman got waved off. Against Thompson and at the moment Mark Hobson is the most likley british fighter to get a shot other than Nelson but doub't Nelson wants it.

Nelson wants nothing to do with a fight with Carl Thompson.

I was standing right next to him when he was just finished commentating, and I overheard someone say

"Johnny, so how's about you and Carl next eh, must be eh?"

to which Nelson merely laughed and replied....

"No way, I'd get done fer meeerder"
