Hopkins seems punch drunk in interviews

Post by E »

I don't mean his speech patterns which seem OK; but the bizarre comments he makes.

I just watched an interview on Setanta from earlier; and he firstly says he has fought "All over the world, in other people's back garden; unlike Joe".....

He must be losing his marbles - he has only boxed twice outside the USA - once an early fight against a total journey man with an 8-8-1 record in Paris; and once in Ecuador when he was knocked down twice and escaped with a draw.

Joe has also fought officially only twice outside Britain - against Veit in Germany and McIntyre in Denmark.

It could also be argued he has fought Reid, Woodhall and STarie in England when he's Welsh.

ANd then he also said he was there when Ricky Hatton fought Oscar????!!

Is he losing his cool or losing his marbles?

Hes from Philli and would often be the away town fighter. You should be impressed an American knows the name of a country outside of the States

He clearly doesn't know the names of any countries outside the US when he says he has fought 'all over the world'....

When what he may means is all over the United States..

He didn't know Howard Eastman was British either, kept harking on about this being the first time he's ever beat down on a Brit.

Even when he is in an away town its not far. Atlantic City 50 minute drive from Philly. NYC not that far either.

i don't think it really matters, he is just saying anything to build a little Tension and Hype.

Any little stuff that may get under the opponents Skin.

Hopkins just has verbal diarrhea, always has done. He is an expert at building a fight and his comments have certainly helped fill the sports pages over here although sadly his speeches are alot more exciting than his actual fights.

It's because Eastman is black. Hopkins thinks all Brits are white and English.

Other than the knockdowns B-Hop won this fight easily. Ever seen it?

It was ahometown deciison for the local boy from Ecuador.

This was more dicey than fighting a clubfighter in Denmark or a guy he already iced in 1 rd in Germany. No risk there at all.
