NATE CAMPBELL: READY & WILLING TO COME OVER TO THE UK

Post by overhand_right »

Nate is up for Khan right now.

Khan says hes up for it (when hes not pissed and wearing effete man-bags)

Lets get it on?

As you say 'Lets get it on'
Khan is due to fight in June in the last bout of his current deal with ITV and Warren has already ruled out a world title bout
Anyone know why a World title shot has been ruled out? and when does Amir have to win a World title before to beat Naz's record?

At least before the end of the year, but I don't know which month. As most of us have said, Khan should just forget about the record.

Right now Khan could give Campbell something to think about, but I think it's a bit too early for him.

We were lead to believe that the reason he was fighting the likes of Kristiansjen and St Clair instead of Thaxton/Romanov were because he had his heart set on breaking Naz's record, seems strange for them to change their plans now, especially when Campbell is willing to come over here to face Amir (no doubt it would be £$£$£$ dependent though)

If Warren is giving Khan 1 more opponent before Campbell, best thing may be to bring in someone who makes Khan look awkward and amateurish, so that they see the need to sharpen up with 3 or 4 more bouts.

Warren said recently it could happen before early 2009, Khan-Campbell.

Campbell will be wanting an absolutey enormous payday for this and it depends on whether the promotion can support it. Khan is fairly big time, but how many punters can he bring in on his own?

In Warren's favour is the fact that people aren't falling over themselves to offer Campbell a big fight and big purse right now.

You'd think $250k would get Campbell here?

I'll bet Campbell would be more than thrilled to come over for a Khan payday, like a fox in a chicken coop.

WBO have ordered a Casa showdown first though, apparently.

Seems FW is resigned to giving Khan his premature title shot now, saying in BN today he just needs one more fight before Campbell.

Not sure if that's enough. Campbell is old and will be retired soon, 250,000 dollars isn't much of a retirement check, and it's not like he's had that many big paydays in his career, of if he has, they were a long time ago.

I'd imagine (at a wild guess), he'd want double that.

This may be a case where Khan will have to hungry if he wants to get the title shot on home soil.

Think Casa-Juan Diaz is next, the WBO will be ignored

Definitely, Casa will just defend that Ring Mag title vs Golden Boy fighters.

Is there any point Warren offering Campbell a big payday if Khan is going to - as it keeps getting hinted at - do a Hatton & leave Frank?

Too soon, Khan needs more time. The problem is ITV will want Khan in a World title fight for the contract to be renewed. That means his next or the one after has to be against Campbell. Something for Frank to think about and if Khan is about to split with Warren, getting the fight made may be the only way Frank can keep him. Khan will be a whole lot keener to fight Campbell than Warren is to let him. FWs gameplan seems to have changed a lot recently with very risky fights for his stable of fighters. The pressure to put on competetive fights obviously comming from TV bosses.

hamed was 21 yrs 7 and a half months.

something like that.

so it would have to be june to beat the record.

give him his chance frank. :box:

campbell would be a good learning fight win or lose.

he's the sort of hardened champion that will teach amir lessons.

The problem for ITV, as mentioned in Ian McNeilly's article on BBN, is that they can build up a fighter, but not come up with the money for the big world title fights. That seems to require US TV money and the fight ends up being shown at an unfavourable time for the UK audience. At the moment, neither Khan nor Campbell would bring that US money. I don't think he's anything like ready, but my guess is that Khan will probably be fighting for a world title on Setanta at the end of the year.

Personaly i hate too see or hear mouthy flashy boxers , we all know he's been brought up fighting midgets and way way past there best boxers. Forget Clair Gary ai well past is use by date has have been all his opponents.

So personaly i say give him his shot , watch Cambell give him a hiding , then Frank can say look you suffered a loss now so, we can bring you along the correct way you can now fight your own weight ect ect and not worry about another loss. He can then start learning the game correctly and get rid of the ego which along with his fammily will stuff things up.

While he's winning he and his family will hold all the cards , and even fight with a seasoned pro the same size is whats needed to teach this young fella some manners. .

Give him Thaxton or give him Romanov, or just say sod it give him Cambell. because Franks gonna lose him anyway . his family are starting to think they know more. Only way frank gets to keep control over this fella is to let them know he's where he is BECAUSE OF WARREN not dispite it.

So Frank give him a 50 -50 fight let him lose , put him in his place, put his family in there place, get to say i told you so and get to keep your investment , because without a doubt there on there way out the door one way or another,
