The Mississippi club fighting scene isnt going to be enough to ready him for a world title challenge is it? :D

After a couple of scares with Garay it seems Erdei's people are constatly looking for the path of least resistence. Lets be honest, 'DeAndrey' has no place fighting for a world title based on who he has fought so far.

What makes it all the more puzzling is that Erdie CAN fight - he is a really well schooled counter puncher and against come forward, loose fighters (ie Gonzalez) he can look a million dollars.

Why the cotton wool treatment??

Exactly Terry, Zsolt has solid world class skills which is why i am baffled by the cotton wool. After he beat Santiago, Erdei said on the mic it was time to crack America but the signs are not good. He is wracking up a string of defences against serious sub-standard opposition and looked pretty poor against Mendoza last time out.

Maybe this could be an avenue for Woods to pursue now he has lost his title but perhaps that was his only bargaining tool. But i am sure he could lobby for a shot considering some of the other guff the WBO are sending Erdei's way.

These leeches really are just there to snatch a quick buck off everybody they can.

I'm going to be really boring and agree with you both.

Erdei had a better start than any light heavyweight who turned pro, given his amateur pedigree and big ability. It should be him getting the big fights.

The wins over Gonzalez, Garay and Ulrich I rate. I also give him credit for finding a way to beat Sahnoune in that sensational fight, when he was injured.

I can't understand how Erdei only got a SD in his last title defence. I thought he won clearly enough.

If they're only in it for titles and money, then it is time to get a big fight. All the top names (bar Erdei) have been fighting each other and he could go after the leftovers.

IMO Erdei could outclass Tarver, beat Johnson closely (though Glen will cry wolf...I mean robbery, if it was remotely close!), ease by Woods. He has a good shot at figuring out Dawson (always said he did). Calzaghe would be all wrong, because we can see in the Garay fights he doesn't like to be suffocated. But may be an easy fight to make.

Anyone think Jurgen Braehmer will be Erdei's next "big" fight? just moved up to 175-lbs & has same promoter...probably big business in Germany.

I think after a comeback fight or two this may be the title Woods should go for if he does plan to fight on.

Im sure he would be payed well to go to Germany.

Wouldn't mind seeing that fight, better than the dross being served up for Erdei all the time. Agree, it's not like he needs protecting, he's a good fighter.

Yeah, at the very least it's a big all-German fight which makes it an event over there. I just want to see Zsolt in something, as it is depressing to see so much talent go to waste.

Just had a quick look before going out and this guy looks like causing Erdei a few probs, makes him look like a middleweight in there - he's huge. And Erdei is giving him full respect, like he's got a dig on him maybe....or perhaps Erdei is just being as normaly cautious as his promoters.

Zsolt's previous opponent, Mendoza, was bloody massive.

Maybe you're onto something - i.e. that Zsolt is just a fleshy middleweight who fights at light heavy maybe so he could avoid Hopkins and Calzaghe.

Yes he's a bit on the well fed looking side isn't he.
I like the way he boxes, but that perma big grin of his face, in all the press shots, is starting to annoy - you just know he's smiling like that because his promoters are lining up his pension with an endless bunch of stiffs.

Crowd booing, he's outpointing the big guy with his usual style, other guys eye is closing. round 12 looks like homeboy on points, as ever.

Where's my taxi??

His opponent looks about 50. 12th round now. not really watching it but looks like too much gulf in glass. Probably a wide points margin coming up.

Dzinziruk. Heard he won only by split decision.

Erdei does look weird with that grin on his fac. Sort of like a pumpkin. I'm starting to reconsider and admit that he lost the first fight with Garay...Sadly wasted talent. Sometimes I just hope that terrific amateurs stay away from promoters like Universum and Warren.

Yeah he's another cautious type - those German based Eastern Europeans know they're onto a good thing there. No chance is worth taking. Fair enough I suppose, but I pity the long suffering German fans who pay out every time.

Last time Strum took a chance, he got sparked. so that's that.

The LM champ looks a real talent though, better than Erdei I think - a real dark horse, but at this rate, we'll never find out how good he really is.

Y
You watched the whole fight??!! :D

I think Arbon had the largest head of any world title challenger in recent memory. How did he miss it?

Kohl said he wants to take Dzinziruk to America but I'm not sure I believe him.

The biggest tragedy of the lot is that Kohl has the brilliant cruiserweight Alexander Alexeev.

Erdei, Sturm, Dzinziruk (not including Kocecny)...Universum are serving up some dire challengers of late. Like a foreign version of the old Warren on SKY, WBU days!

Difference is though, these are using more meaningful belts.

Konecny wasn't the greatest challenge, fringe if he was worthy. He's okay but hasn't really looked world class to me.
