and then he immediately lost by consecutive first round KOs to both jon Thaxton and Andy Holligan - such was his unpredictability.

Michael Hunter was always good to watch and really got the crowd going. Only missed two of his pro fights. Miss him now he's gone.

In the early days, Danny Williams had the guts and power to make for great viewing. Others have mentioned Benn, Earl and Wharton so I won't - a couple of others that I enjoyed were Rob McCracken and (though Irish) Steve Collins.

David Walker. Although found wanting at European and British title level, he had some absolutely fantastic scraps for the Southern-Area belt.

Yep, beat me to it. David Walker's fights are often life and death battles and generate a lot of excitement going all the way back to his amateur days.

Michael Ayres and Wayne Alexander, were also favourites in recent times.

Colin Dunne always provided fantastic value for money.

The night Naz beat Vuyani Bungu. Shea Neary and Mickey Ward made it worth the exhorbitant ticket price all on their own.
