Cook misses IBO defense

Cook misses IBO defense!
By Keith Holland
Jason Cook is out of his IBO lightweight world title defense against Kevin Bennett which was scheduled for this coming Saturday in Bridgend, Wales. Cook has been KO'd by a flu virus and while not wanting to disappoint his huge army of Welsh fans, he has been forced to withdraw from what looked an entertaining contest. The fight will be rescheduled as soon as circumstances allow said a spokesman for promoters Ringside. The bill at the Bridgend Recreation Centre will go ahead and now be headlined by the British Featherweight title fight between champion Dazzo Williams and former titlist Jamie McKeever

I know. I am remineded of a famous American matchmaker who said recently: "I don't make matches any more, I just keep them in."
Others have mentioned the huge gap left here by Ernie Fossey's sad demise. This kind of thing never seemed to happen as much with him as Sports Network matchmaker. Dean Powell is having a mare.
