I'm not a member, so cannot read the interview with Hopkins. If Bernard has retired, then I wish him all the best for the future.

I hope when/if Bernard does indeed retire, he thinks seriously about becoming a trainer. He knows the dedication & sacrifice required & seems like a guy who would expect his fighters to show the same dedication.

IMO, Hopkins would also be an asset to any commentary team. He knows the game inside-out.

I think it's all speculation at the moment, Hopkins said after the fight he would take time out with his family and make a decision. I have also read articles that Trinidad is now pushing for a rematch with Hopkins. Felix does not deserve these continual big money matches anymore based on his name value. He is well past it and he definitely made Jones Jnr look like he has alot more left than he actually has.

Trainer Freddie Roach, who worked the corner of Bernard Hopkins last Saturday, feels the Philadelphia fighter should retire before he gets hurt. Hopkins lost a split-decision verdict to Joe Calzaghe, but has a possible rematch on the table with Felix Trinidad. Promoter Don King recently contacted Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer to discuss a Hopkins-Trinidad rematch.

Roach voiced the opinion that Hopkins needs to focus on his future health, forget about Trinidad or making any other fight and call it a career.

"I'd tell him to retire," Roach told the Philadelphia Inquirer. "He's had a great career. At his age, he might be pushing the envelope a little too much. . . . He's not got anything to be ashamed of tonight or any night in his life. Forty-three? Shoot, I retired when I was 27."
