Dwain Chambers

Seeing as DC has tried his hand at two new sports since retiring from athletics, does anyone know if he could be enticed into the ring, possibly as LH or Cruiserweight ?
Would he want to ? I dunno but I'm sure he must have considered it.

It's next on his list after snooker and darts.

I'm amazed he hasn't done a Daley Thompson and gone for footy. He must really suck at it.

He has his first game on sunday in a friendly. Apparantly he has been quite impressive in training.

No way should an untrained fighter try to box without years of experience before them no matter how muscular they'll get smashed to pieces. Rugby is however VERY compatible with sprinting

Thats what i thought to be honest. Reckon they are only saying that to get the crowd in. They reckon there will be over 2,500 at the friendly on sunday just to see him :o

Really? I'll take it you know more than I do but I wouldn't have thought playing a hard game for 80 minutes at a constant high pace, getting regularly smashed by bigger blokes and having to pick yourself up again and again was all that similar to training your body to run in a straight line for 10 seconds as fast as possible.

And that's before he thinks about passing, kicking (ok shouldn't need to do much of this) tackling, side stepping and running round opposition, running onto a pass etc etc

Marketing ploy for both parties, just like when Daley signed for Stevenage

Daley did look really good in one of the charity matches they used to play before the FA cup final... those were the days. I'm not sure it was entirely a marketing ploy - there was some skills there.

For me though, I think Chambers would be better off trying Union - in which his explosive speed could be utilised more. How fast will Chambers be after 70 minutes of tireless action... Rugby Union there are more breaks and the wingers are less involved throughout. He has the frame and speed to surely ecplise the success of Nigel Walker.... although Nigel did play school boy Rugby.

I'm not disagreeing with ya, but his speed and size will be a major asset in certain aspects of the game, if his tackling is shit though it will be a short rugby career for Our Dwain

I remember Daley scoring a wonderful overhead kick in that pre FA Cup game...

Daley wasnt just a straight line sprinter though..... so presumably his skills are more transferrable than Chambers.

Much as I like Chambers i get the impression is talent is "limited" to running in a straight line for less that 10 seconds as fast as possible.

Shame he is messing up is chances for the summer by dabbling in rugby.
