There was a big row over here a while back when Tyson Fury tried to enter the irish amateur senior championships, he was actually entered because I remeber laughing at the name, but then there was some dispute over eligibility and he didn't get in...

Any one shed any light on this?

He has been trying get selected for any nation he can, so he could of competed at the recent Olympic Qualifiers seeing as David price is by far and away England's number 1.

Fury entered the irish ABA's with a view to winning it and becoming their selection for the Qualifiers.

Although it won't help his Beijing hopes now, he look's almost dead certain to win this years English ABA's now that Tom Dallas has been disqualified.
Shame, was looking forward to that bout, would have been a close fight.

He was part of England's "development squad", who are being primed for 2012(and they will be a major force come then, believe me!)but I'am intrigued to see what happens from here on in considering Fury has been trying to switch countries!!!

Tyson fights Hartlepools comebacking Mark Smith of Hartlepool Catholic Club this Friday in Sheffield. Smith was an excellent junior but drifted away from boxing when he reached senior level. I've been watching Smith spar and he looks like he's lost none of his ability. Interestingly, Tyson Fury has been in Hartlepool sparring with Chris "Hightower" Burton at Neil Fannans gym in preparation for Smith.
