Beat them all:
Collins - picks him apart the way McCallum did years earlier
Benn - Defensively too good, makes Benn miss and pay, outboxing and punnishing Benns defensive floors
Eubank - moderately close fight but BHOPs technical and defensive proess and his higher workrate out doing Chris.
Bottom line while physically they may be up with BHOPs. In terms of making mistakes they make too many, BHOPS makes few mistakes and makes the opponents pay for their's

I was thinking about this the other day,
When it got to the 10th round Hopkins looked done as far as I am concerned and a bigger puncher would have had a good chance of stopping him,
That said Benn would be outboxed badly, Collins would get countered all night long, but Eubank I think would have beaten him fairly handily. I think he gets a lot of stick because of his lifestyle etc., but I genuinely think he'd have stopped Hopkins in the later rounds - the young version of Eubank was top notch.

Ok David I agree he beat all 3 in his prime but how do they do against the current version? Could he still out box Benn with his limited punch output (also would he get as much luck on the inside against someone just as rough as himself)? Has he the legs to cope with Collins marching forward throwing shots? Would he and Eubank spend 12 rounds waiting for each other to throw a punch?

Yeah, but what versions are we talking about here? - A prime Eubank beats this version of Hopkins. A prime Hopkins vs a prime Eubank might be a very different story.Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:Only at the age of 43, do you realise Hopkins is older than Eubankbridportboxer wrote: When it got to the 10th round Hopkins looked done as far as I am concerned and a bigger puncher would have had a good chance of stopping him,

I would presume the original question was for this version of Hopkins as that is what we watched on Saturday night.

I think he meant prime for prime. Prime Eubank may beat this version but I wouldn't bet my house on it, Eubank hardly pressured and set a frantic pace that would tire Hops out. And this version of BHOPs is technically allot better than any of Eubanksbridportboxer wrote:Yeah, but what versions are we talking about here? - A prime Eubank beats this version of Hopkins. Benn can be nailed but the best way to find Benn is by letting him come foward and popping him with the jab and following up with the right hand.. like Eubank did, like McClellan did in 8/9 round, like Anthony Logan did when he put Benn down.. and Galvano hurt him badly with a 1-2 in their second fight when Benn was walking him down, right at the death remember..
Hopkins would do the same.. i think most would agree that the way to beat Benn was to box him, let him come foward then nail him.. basically.. he was always always too eager to launch..

Collins not in the league..
Eubank and Hopkins is an extremely interesting one, though.. it probably be something of a staring contest.. but Eubanks upper bod movement and faster legs/feet and better flexibility and punch variety would prob win him the day, though Hop is taller, naturally rangier, consistently more precise with the right and (prime) doesn't need breaks.. be close, and damn interesting..

The point with Benn is that you never actually knew what he might produce - he was as dangerous a single shot puncher as anyone, and as such its hard to say that BHop would definitely have beaten him; sure, as a percentage if they fought 100 times, the American would come out on top but on the right day Benn had the shot to destroy anyone.big lennox wrote:I think they would be fascinating. Good read, here: http://www.topix.com/forum/source/the-m ... UMITTC7RROmick t wrote:noone must be a hell of a fighter?Riddick Blowe wrote:lol. noone stops hopkins, least of all chris eubank.
Yes i have. Only seen the couple of knockdowns he had years ago on youtube, and clearly he has a good chin. But I would never bank against a power horse like Benn. If anyone got have got Hopkins out of there it is Benn. Benn KOs him, cold.Riddick Blowe wrote:Be honest. have you ever seen Hopkins fight, outside of the Calzaghe fight.fist wrote:benn knocks him out and \eubank wins on points.

so you have only seen the mercado fight outside of the calzaghe fight.
hmm. doesn't really stack up to being qualified to say that Benn 'knocks him out cold'. eg, how on earth would Benn land shots on Hopkins at all, let alone shots to 'knock him out cold' when ROY JONES hardly landed anything meaningful on him.
Im english, and I would concede that we have waay the more rabid, delusional fans than americans who in the main are actually quite rational.
