Ron Lyle Vs David Tua, who wins?

This may have been a good one. They were both big punchers and long time contenders. They were both vulnerable to good, slick boxers such as Jimmy Young, Goyo Peralta and Chris Byrd, Lennox Lewis whom knew how to jab and counter-punch to a greater or lesser extent.

Also niether were the fasted of Heavyweights, so punches would land and often.

We all know whan Tua would do thats not rocket science, so how would Ron Lyle fight The Tuaman?

He may choose to stand and slug it out like he did with Foreman and Shavers which would be great for the fans but favour Tua, and Tua has a better chin than Shavers so he may catch Lyle with that big left hook within the first 4 rounds.

However if Ron Lyle used his head and used his superior boxing skills he could outbox Tua for long periods of time whilst still having the occasional exchanges on the inside. I feel Lyle had the edge in speed and a good enough jab to give Tua plenty to think about and the fight may take a simular role as the Tua - Rahman fights but with Lyle taking a points victory.

If Rahman could outbox Tua then I don't see why Lyle couldn't have. There is always a possibilty that Tua catches him late in the fight. Lyle was a huge puncher but I think David had the whiskers to hold up against punishment.

Lyle has considerable advantages in height, reach, skill, and all-around conditioning, and a lot of power to match. Tua probably hits a little harder and has a little better chin, but overall, I think Lyle would just have too wide a range of abilities for the very limited Tua. Lyle by clear-cut decision in a fight where he is probably rocked or put down at some point.

I could see the fight going the same way as Tua-Oquendo,but then of course were assuming that both men are in their best shape and form.Lyle couldnt handle the bigger men of the division and the same can be said about Tua but Tua has more stamina than he is given credit for and I believe would punch Lyle out certainly if they traded,but good match up KOJOE,hope granby street is cold enough for ya!

Tua had the better chin and that'd be the difference I think. Lyle got taken out a few times and the Tua Man is a hard enough hitter to put him in trouble.
That's assuming the macho man ex-con Ron decides to slug it out at some point - which he would. 8)

tua can be intimidated when a big man puts a power shot on him, and i could see ron being forced into letting some serious leather fly early on.

from then on i see hard jabs and mauling by ron, until the classic late tua rally and the even more predictable ron lyle-folding job under the pressure.

most of you got it right Tua wins this by ko late like the 10 -12 rounds .
Tua would eventually catch up to Lyle.
Ron is a good good fighter , maybe if they fought twice I would split it up 1st by ko for Tua rematch a closely points win for Lyle in a split call.
Most complain about Tua not being cosistent but Lyle was just as bad if not worse.
He lost many fights he should have won.
I have both on tape many fights & Isee Tua winning this like the Izon fight.

Tua can take ungodly punishment so I dont see Lyle koing the terminator.
Ron is a boxerpuncher & when properly trained he is a threat to anyone but that wasnt often.
Tua would let ron take early lead & wait for him to sloww down even if it took the 12 round to do it & ko a exausted Lyle.

I like tua a lot , BUT he is right were he belongs floating around 3rd and 5th in rank he is not a great puncher like some say, He does have a great left though, that bull rush stuff only gets you so far, so once Lyle fells him out for a few rounds , Lyle in 6 or seven.

Tua, Lyle was too east to hit, and Tua is faster and better than Shavers. For a little fat slob Tua can move hans fast at times, and when in shape (about 3 years, or 100 pounds ago) was fast getting to opponent early.

Tua can't even beat blubber brother Rahman, but can beat Ron Lyle? Dream on. Even a prime Tua would've had at best a puncher's chance, and that only if Lyle let him get into range, which is doubtful. It would've been a lot like Lewis vs. Tua, IMO.

Lyle was a better all around fighter and at his best would out box Tua.
