I absolutely agree - but whilst having to be careful what I write concerning Mr Jose Sulaiman - lets just say he sometimes makes the strangest decisions!!!

Froch - or more to the point "Meaty Mick" should f*ck the WBC right off if they were to insist on a fight with Inkin further down the line.

I am convinced Froch is world class and he will have every doubter eating humble pie!!!

The fight I most want to see him but it will never happen is one against Calzaghe - Sorry gents I know I am in the minority but it is an easy nights work for Froch.
Blimey Spud.... I think one of us has amnesia.

After Froch beat Westerman, I swear you were on Boxingchat slagging him - and his team - off.

You soon jumped back on that bandwagon didn't you.... Got to be seen to be on the winning side eh.......

Inkin may well be under the weather, but it's hard not to think that his team have decided that a vacant WBO belt is an easier job than coming to Nottingham.

Either way, it's still an excellent nights boxing. Can't wait for it. :box:
So that would be Inkin vs Brahmer then would it?

I don't know - always wanted to see them two fight.
Somehow I doubt Universum would put both of their super middleweight hopes in with each other. Surely they'll put them in for seperate belts, that way Kohl gets two champs rather than one. Interestingly, it seems Brahmer has moved up to light heavyweight. There is a vacant WBA title up there...I CAN see Kohl putting Brahmer in with Erdei, as he did with Ulrich, in hopes that the German favourite will win the world title.

Kohl has behaved disgracefully. And whoever put Kohl up to it is scum.

That's right. Universum have Veit, Kotelnik, Inkin, Brahmer, Erdei etc.

Yeah, Universum did sort of outmanouvre Warren on the Calzaghe-Magee which got scrapped so that Joe could keep his title if he fought Veit. Maybe for the best. Can anyone imagine how bad Calzaghe-Magee might have been.
Didn't froch say he would replace Magee that time.
Calzaghe had to forget his voluntary (Magee) and fight his mandatory (Veit rematch) or else he'd have lost his fake-arse, WBO-imposter belt.

The fight I most want to see him but it will never happen is one against Calzaghe - Sorry gents I know I am in the minority but it is an easy nights work for Froch.
Mick and Carl don't seem to confident though since they turned down an offer and the fact that Carl has been brought on too slow, 5 years and no european title.

Knocking out the likes of a shot Reid and such won't prepare him for the beating he'd get from Joe.

I doubt it. The biggest issue for Hennessy seems to be staging the fight involving a well known allegedly favorite. As seen when he tried to do Thaxton-Khan. Nothing to do with being scared. It's about promoting the big fight himself, IMO.

Do you really believe Warren even intends to make x or y fight just because he said he "made an offer"?

this is really dodgy. I'm sort of scratching my head as to why Warren and Boxingchat were the first to know.
Did FWank contact Kohl and say we'll drop one of Calzaghe's belts if you pull out and eff up Froch's WBC eliminator?

If so, DISGRACE.

Hennessey should pf known Khan was contracted exclusively to Frank and ITV, why not let Thaxton fight on SN show before the Romanov fight?

He couldn't afford to stage Calzaghe on one of his shows anyway.

Well why make an offer then?

well, regardless of what you think, this is the controversy with Hennessy, that he should concentrate on his own fighters rather than calling out Warren fighters. Because you just know Warren won't play fair and will pull his fighter out of the purse bids if there is a risk of not being in total control. then he makes a seperate offer -which naturally gets turned down - and then gets to go round saying we offered so-and-so £X and he turned it down. he says that in his well read column, he says it on ITV/Setanta and the dimwits believe what they hear without ever knowing the full story.

Froch is close to being Calzaghe's WBC mandatory. We've already seen weirdness - Inkin pulling out twice, and there was more than 1 person behind this than Universum - but Berrio is still going to be a WBC mandatory. What is going to happen? Calzaghe-In-Credible-Mandatory-Shocker (vs Froch)? Or Calzaghe-Drops-Belt-So-He-Can-Fight-Shot-Old-Man (Jones, Tarver)?

Froch has wasted too much time fighting domestic level fighters while looking ugly at times, no way Is he prepared for Calzaghe at all.

Kessler would brutalise him too.

Froch Is Insanely open to being outworked or put off balance with timed right hands.

Dodson Is Froch's best win at the moment, good domestic fighter who was nearly outworking Froch at first then he got hit with a good bodyshot. Reid put him off balance a few times with timed right hands

Berrio? Bute sparked that guy out.

How would we know If Warren's playing fair or not? Froch and Thaxton were given there highest paydays but were horribly advised to turn them down on the ego of their promoter, who's probably never paid 400k to any of his own world champs. Was laughable when Froch said Hennessy offered Calzaghe 1.6 million, not a chance In hell would he be able to afford that.

I think Froch can win a belt but thats as far as he'll go and It depends on the champ because he'll never be elite, poor imatation of Roy Jones style and brought on too slowly.

But Joe 'Terminator' Calzaghe didn't reach the 'limelight' until 18 months ago, and he's 36.

I've not seen any official confirmation that Berrio has been drafted in yet, but he'd supposedly been approached as a back up for the show way before Inkin (the coont) had pulled out. I'd imagine they're trying to negotiate a purse as we speak

With regards the Froch v Calzaghe offer it was all smoke and mirrors on SN's front.

They sent a TEXT to mick offering the fight for £100k purse for Carl,

Mick replied and said forget the money, thats not an issue at all, what we want is a bona-fide contract to view and if it's kosher we shall send it straight back signed & sealed.

The Friday of that week a second TEXT arrived saying '£120K last offer' to which the same reply was given.

Suddenly, in the news of the world it's 'Froch turns down Calzaghe fight'.

It was never a legit offer in the first place, it was just Ammo for something to write in his Sunday rag column.

Mick called his bluff and got Sky to back a multi-million pound purse and Fwank never responded !! he elected to fight unheralded Sakio Bika instead.

“After being made aware of allegedly’s comments over the last few days, I’m pleased to confirm that negotiations have started with his company Sports Network about a super fight between Carl Froch and Joe Calzaghe,” confirmed Hennessy.

“We were keen to negotiate this fight in the background to its conclusion, but articles published in the News of the World, The Nottingham Evening Post and the Guardian have left me no option but to go on record and address this matter.”

Hennessy explained: “Sports Network’s matchmaker first got in touch with us at the end of last week to ask if we were serious about making the fight. I said: ‘of course: very serious’.

“I explained we were fine with it being staged by Sports Network if the deal was right, but stressed that there couldn’t be any options on Carl Froch’s future fights.

“The matchmaker suggested that this could pose a problem and that allegedly would require some kind of options if Carl beat Calzaghe, but told me that he would get back to me. I then received a simple text on Saturday morning with a money offer for July or September, but there was no mention of the situation regarding options.

“I requested clarification on their position regarding options in writing to our fax number, but received nothing. The lack of response suggests there is an issue, but this would appear to contradict allegedly’s comments in the Guardian yesterday. At this moment, their stance on options is still unclear to me.

“I am happy to continue negotiations for Carl to box on a Sports Network event, but need to know they won’t require an involvement in Carl’s career after the fight if he wins. Given allegedly’s apparent confidence in Calzaghe, it would be a contradiction if they did.”

Unbeaten British and Commonwealth champion Froch has been promoted by Hennessy since his professional debut five years ago. He is currently ranked third by the WBO and second by the WBC, having stopped 17 of his 21 victims. He will move up a position in both rankings once Bute is removed for contesting a final eliminator for the IBF championship, leaving him at #1 with the WBC.

Hennessy has long claimed a fight between the Nottingham boxer and Calzaghe is a marquee affair that would create significant nationwide and global interest. In order to make it happen, he has attempted to set the politics aside and made a firm offer of his own.

“This is a massive fight, between two of the best fighters in the world who both happen to be British,” added Hennessy. “Joe Calzaghe is a great champion and a true warrior. I believe it will take a very special fighter to beat him, but I believe Carl Froch to be just that.

“This is a marquee contest that needs to happen and options shouldn’t get in the way. As such, I have attempted to put all the confusion to one side and made an offer to stage the fight in either July or September.

“I feel the offer was very generous. If you take the amounts that the champion and challenger receive from WBO purse bids, (75/25%), my offer values the total fight at twice the amount of allegedly’s. It would also result in Joe Calzaghe receiving 6 times the amount of Sports Network’s offer to Carl.”

Unfortunately, the proposal has already been knocked back.

“Within an hour of sending the offer, it was turned down by their matchmaker,” said Hennessy a short while ago. “The text offer to Carl was also re-iterated as a final offer, but did not mention whether they required options or not.

“I have again sought clarification on this. There is little point in us even discussing the offer they have made for Carl to box on a Sports Network show until we know their position for certain.

“Once they have stated in writing, as requested, that they do not require options, we can look at the possibility seriously. They have stated that the offer was their last, but I am confident that through ongoing dialogue we could come to an arrangement that reflects the magnitude of this fight.

“This contest could be one of the biggest in British Boxing history. Calzaghe already holds the record for the highest indoor attendance, but it would be blown away if he met Carl Froch.

“I see Jermain Taylor has turned a big offer down. There now isn’t a bigger viable fight out there for Calzaghe, so I’m hopeful his team will be realistic going forward.

“In light of their rejection, I have also asked what terms would be acceptable to Joe Calzaghe to defend against Carl on one of our shows. I am still very hopeful that this contest can happen, regardless of whose event it is on.”

F*ck me!!! - anyone will tell you that I got on the "Froch Train" whilst it was stood at the platform - in fact I was on it whilst the cleaners were getting the train ready for the passengers!!!

The only time I have voiced against Carl was a couple of mismatches - I recall the Damon Hague fight as being one of the very worst!!!

Nah mate you have got the wrong bloke - I was shouted down and ridiculed a good couple of years ago when I suggested that Froch at the very least could give Calzaghe nightmares!!! my only allie at the time was Chambers!!! :TU:

120k Is a good offer, doubt Hennessey's ever paid Witter that much and Witter's a more worthy fighter to pay well over Froch.

Like Hennessey would of been able to afford a multi Million offer anyway, what would he do If Calzaghe accepted, ask DLH to fork up the cash?

I disagree - willing to bet Meaty Mick - with TV revenue, sponsorship and ticket revenue in a nice big venue you will be surprised the profits a promoter can make if his head is screwed on the right way - and I have to say Meaty Mick is quite good on that score.

He's not done the big fights Frank has done though, Froch would have to fight on a Fw show for It to happen. Hennessey's biggest title fight was the Doncaster Dome or Alexandra Palace promoting Witter.

Disagree about Hennessy not being able to put on a BIG show mate - Maloney, Hennessy, Matchroom or Fight Academy could put on big shows mate you have to start somewhere - as long as the staff are okayish and people know what they are doing there isn't a problem.

I will give Meaty Mick his dues he could put on a BIG show - he listens to his team and has a couple of bloody good members of staff as have a lot of the promotional companies - just don't see the problem.

Where you are right of course - is if it is a W arren fighter - the only way Hennessy puts the fight on is if he wins a purse bids situation and the winning bid is too good to turn down.

Exactly. Just because he's not Warren, doesn't mean he couldn't put on a big show. It's the fighters that attract the fans, the tv revenue and the money. The promotors just deal with the money and make the show happen.

Hennessy could easily put on a massive show if he had the right fighters/fights. The reason he won't is because Froch and Witter aren't big business (yet, perhaps).
