Oscar is back with Mayweather Snr....

Post by stujones »

Seems like Floyd Mayweather Snr is back in the corner for De La Hoya vs Forbes. I'm a little shocked at this for two reasons. 1) There seemed to be a great bond between DLH and Roach, although I appreciate that DLH believes his best period was under Mayweather (I disagree though). 2) What's going to happen after this fight and for September... surely its going to be the same problem as fight 1 with Floyd Jnr... I cannot see Snr train anyone to fight his son.

Think this could be a mistake. Would have liked to have seen Oscar use this fight to assess his relationship with Roach - because even he looks brilliant vs Forbes under Mayweather Snr... he's going to be searching for a new coach after, surely.

Floyd SNR had already said he will be in the corner for Oscar Chicken Tikka De La Anna Kournikova Hoya when he fights in September.

By Oscar De La Hoya:
I don’t know what I would have done without Floyd Mayweather Senior back on my team. I really thought it was over. I really thought I was getting close to hanging up the gloves, but Mayweather Sr just brings out the best in me and this training camp has been no exception.

Mayweather Sr has just taken it to another level, the way he always does in all my fights.

You know, I want to obviously say that Freddie Roach is a tremendous trainer and he is by far one of the top two or three best trainers out there in the world. But I just think that me and Floyd Sr have this connection that we just work so well together, that it just makes me want to elevate my game.

When I called Floyd Sr it was a couple of months after the Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight, it was like if nothing happened. I called Floyd Sr and told him, ‘so are you ready now Floyd Sr?’ And he says, ‘absolutely, I’m ready to get back in there and just work on a few things that are going to get you right back to the top’. And so it was a conversation like if nothing happened.

Roger, not Floyd

And to answer the above post, I've heard September 13th.

Wasn't Floyd Senior in Forbes' corner for the D-Hop fight?! What is going on here? It is incestuous training behaviour.
I thought so too. :-?
