Fitzroy Guisseppi, one of the Caribbean's leading boxers in the 1970's, died from an apparent heart attack yesterday. He was 55.
The Trinidadian had been working the corner of a fighter in a 10-rounder in Jamaica, when he collapsed at ringside, said Leroy Brown, President of the Jamaica Boxing Board.
He was taken to nearby Spanish Town Hospital, where he died.
In 1979, he challenged for the WBC light-welterweight title, but lost a split decision to Sang-Hyun Kim in South Korea.
His professional career ended in 1985.
