Let the race begin over the lads signature!!!

Do not be surprised if it is Golden Boy and that he appears on either Maloney or possibly Punch Promotion cards in the future!!! - Only reason why I say that is the article refers to one person who has advised him as being Gareth Williams who is The Hattons lawyer - perhaps I will be wrong on that one!!

SN are transparent in what they are trying to do - they hade Macklin for years and wouldnt put him on in Brum - it was one of the main reasons he left and wouldnt resign with SN - now that Gavin and Kal will be looking to turn over they dont want the lads to think they will not get fights in their home town.

Gavin's style has been perfectly taylored for the amatuer system - he will need some work with a good pro trainer to establish a pro style, although his ability and instincts mean he will be a fantastic fighter in either code

no, but SN are pre-empting any suggestions that they are 'allergic' to promoting in Birmingham - every fighter wants to box in the home town in front of their friends and family.

To follow Macklin me and my mates had to drive to Glasgow, Manchester, Cardiff, London - in fact, any where but Birmingham.

Warren doesnt want Gavin to rule out signing with SN on the basis that they wont put on shows in Brum, hence the belated return to the Second City with the Khan roadshow

I would be very surprised if it's anyone other than Warren. Unless Golden Boy or the likes get involved. In Britain though it's probably a one horse race.

If he has any financial sense it has to be Warren, especially if he gets the big one in Beijing. Fill up your pocket, get up to 20/25-0 and if he isnt moving him along quickly enough then he can dissapear to USA to Golden Boy or something

All Hennessey will do is put you on the shelf and have you call out the rival SN fighter and waste away

Someone tell me why the hell a 35 year old WBC Champion( Witter) is fighting on such an irregular basis

Whilst I do respect the points made by our friends in the black country, seriously if there was a difference of £50,000 in the signing on fee, and a three year contract instead of a two year deal, do you seriously think Gavin would give a flying fornicate where he fights ?

why would he not sign with warren? he is by far the best promoter in Europe and in the top 3 in the world.

If there were huge differentials in the offers tabled, then of course the fighter in question would have little choice to make.

That said, if it came down to a tug of war for the fighter's signature with two similar deals being offered, then the point of getting to fight in front of your home town fans suddenly becomes far more relevant.

Its no surprise to me that only a couple of months before Gavin turns pro his old spar mate Broadhurst is getting a home town outing from promoters SN.

And, for reference, Birmingham aint in the Black Country!

I'd love to see some of the top new talents such as Gavin signing with Mick Hennessey, I like his style of promoting and if he could land a few BIG names it'd give him a shot at rivalling SN. It would be better for the sport IMO if they went with Mick (FA as well), but you can understand that money talks and Warren will no doubt flash the cash and point at Amirs bank balance

No offence mate, just wondered who'd be the first to put me right !!

I've been here, bought the tee shirt, so to speak, and I've yet to see a contract that stipulates where you fight.
Of course everyone that wants to sign him will promise this and that, outside the terms of the contract, but truth is, there's no guarentee for any boxer where he fights.
If Wazza can put together a strong enough stable in Brummie you'll get the event.
Wazza did this with Sheffield with the Full Monty shows, with Manchester with Arnie and Ricky when they were on the rise, and lately in Cardiff with the Welsh contingent.
