Robin Reid for Champ?

Now Ottke is retiring (so he says) and Calzaghe is moving upto Light Heavyweight is the path clear for Robin Reid to come to the surface after his last fight with Sven!!

Has Reid got what it takes to gain and maintain the championship at Super middle?

All depends on who is is fighting, if its some like a Mads Larsen, Charles Brewer etc I don't think he has. However, the strength in depth in the devision is poor, so there is a chance he might have a poor opponent. I can't see Reid making 20 odd defences of any title though.

Has to be matched carefully..Mundine outboxes him so count out the WBA championship..The IBF would be interesting, the WBC would be another one but i cant see him beating Danny Green(who will be champ..maybe a WBO shot when Calzaghe moves up?

He needs to avoid Larsen I think

I agree I cant see Reid holding a belt for a long period but I definately feel that he can have an impact now....If I was him I would be training my arse off and try and get a fight for the vacant title/titles asap.

On his night he has what it takes to beat most Super middles....Which sets me thinking that maybe Eastmans best option really is to move up now....

Reid would have a good shot at anyone in the division, Green is the best of the bunch now that Calzaghe has moved up, but even he is beatable. If Reid could keep a tight defense, i'd give him a chance against Green. Basically I think the division is wide open and anyone has a shot a winning a belt.

I give Robin Reid a chance against anyone in the division. You have to really - it's not bursting with amazing quality but rather with solid, decent fighters - a description that fits Reid himself. Great chin, great conditioning. Why not? He can be a bit flat-footed at times but he's always a presence.

I expect Carl Froch to be up there in 2 years, should Ottke retire undefeated all the Germans would go on about him being one of the greatest ever no doubt. Makes me sick just thinking that Marciano and Ottke may end up being spoken of in the same sentence.
