USA boxer Daniel O'Connor makes Sports Illustrated

Post by davetko »

Nice to open up the May 5 issue and see our own Daniel O'Connor in the "Faces in the Crowd" section of Sports Illustrated for his accomplishments at the Future Stars Nationals.

That's great that he's in there. From reading his profile on USA Boxing, it sounds like he'd be a very positive face for USA Boxing and the amateurs in general. Sounds like a real good guy.

An amateur boxer who is not an Olympian makes SI. That is great. Our sport needs more of it.

Shawn Estrada was also randomly quoted in Newsweek several months back about the fires in California, as well. Was weird when I saw the quote and the name, and went "wait, is that our Shawn Estrada?"

Shawn has plans to be a firefighter after the Olympics. I am sure he'll also box as a pro.
