Johnny McCoy Query

I have a newspaper article reporting a Nov. 19, 1928 Johnny McCoy W-1 Kid Hunt @ Newcastle, Penn. Is this a typo? Should it be a disqualification or 10 rounds? The article says McCoy "was given decision over Kid Hunt."

Also, is this THE Johnny McCoy?

If so, this bout wasn't over at CBZ, as I recall. Also, it would require that his Nov. 19 Happy Atherton bout be changed. Which would make sense, as I think the Atherton bout really occurred on Nov. 10, but I have no source readily at hand.

The Atherton - McCoy bout was 10 Nov 1928 according to the 1941 RRB which gives Atherton's record. It was at New Castle, PA, and McCoy won (W 10)

Colin, does that RRB mention the Kid Hunt bout? Ric

Also, the newspaper gives THIS Johnny McCoy's hometown as being New Albany, Indiana. Does that help? Ric

Ric - I only have sections of the 1941 RRB - what I could photocopy before the New York Public Library refused to let me do any more because of the poor condition of their book and then what I could transcribe by hand in the 10 days that I had there. Unfortunately I took down much of Happy Atherton's record but not Johnny McCoy's - I don't even recall if he or Kid Hunt was listed.
