Certainly not this year, nothing to be gained for either man to face eachother right now, with Tszyu about to retire (I personally think we have already seen his last fight already), and the titles about to be wide open, it makes far more sense for them to gain titles and then fight in a unification battle.

Have to agree about Kostya...i wasnt overly impressed with the proformance against Jesse James. Maybe he will have one more fight...i imagine he would love to fight in Russia(as an undisputed champ) before his career is over.
Warren wouldnt put Hatton in with Cotto at the moment, theres to many good fight`s out there for them both.
If the fight does happen..it`s a 50/50 for sure.
I think that if Cotto is kept feeding on lightwieghts...he will be shocked by the strength of Hatton..who is the strongest in the division...and he still isnt a fully developed man yet...although only 28...i have found that my body has increased in strength over the last couple of years as i develope. So i imagine it will be the same for everyone?

Hatton revealed in a recent interview I read, that he weighs in on fight night at 11 st 2, that's a whopping 156 lbs! 16 lbs above the limit!
I cannot see by that reckoning how Hatton can continue for long at light welterweight, when he hits 26-28 he's going to fill out even more.
However, I think his lack of height would make it hard for him at welterweight, he's about average height for a light-welter, but would definetly be small at welterweight.
Mind you, his style is very much suited to his physical dimensions, so perhaps it wouldn't bother him too much being physically overmatched.

If he`s making the weight easy...then it might not be a problem...but if he`s putting on over a stone in 24 hours...that cant be too healthy. He`s looked ripped in his last couple of fights...alot different compared to when he fought Rowlands.
He is begginning to develope..you can see it...and i`ll be interested to see if Hatton moves up or not..i dont think the weight would be a problem at Welter and Maybe he would be even stronger??????

In the interview Hatton said that he was currently at 11st 7, and that come fight night he would weight 11st 2. Unless he meant to say 10 st 2, or it was misrecorded.
It does sound like he must be doing some severe boiling down/starving himself in the runup to the fight though, which cannot be good for him.
Previously I heard he was weighing well over 12 stone between fights, and judging by the Superstars effort he seems to be an obviously naturally fat bugger.

Here in the metric-backward U.S. we have a different phrase for that quantity: "two gallons."jamesmcdonnell wrote:16 lbs is about 6.5 Kilos, which would equate to almost 7 liters of water.
But it wasn't exactly healthy for him or his subsequent performance. Done properly, one can lose up to around 10% of one's body weight via water loss for a short term - but it's a very dangerous game.I reckon it's possible to sweat that much off, Toney lost 25 lbs in 24 hours once as a middleweight....
As has been discussed quite a bit recently on Current Scene, De La Hoya used to boild down from 140+ to 130 at weigh-in early in his career, but being DLH he was able to stipulate in the fight contracts that the weigh-ins be a full 2-3 days before the fight, which allowed him time to recover fully from the water loss and come into the fight a full-blown jr. welter or more.

If you drink that many litres of water it will go through your body faster than a German boxer could bribe a referee!
If your body is dehydrated much of it will be absorbed - but your body has limits as to how fast it can re-absorb lost fluids, and attempting to rehydrate too quickly could be bad. I'm not a doctor, but I'm thinking at the very least it'll throw your electrolyte balance way out of whack (unless you're getting a saline IV, which is precisely why the latter is used in severe cases), and at worst it might f*ck up your kidneys, to go from being basically shut down to overloaded in a short time span.
And even once your cells have gotten back to their normal state of hydration (which can usually be done within 24 hours with IV drips), it probably takes a while longer for everything to get back to working normally. Kinda like after you get over a bad case of the flu, you might be on your feet again within 24 hours of the virus being cleared, but it'll take several more days to start feeling near normal again.
I'm lucky to have done some Charity work with Ricky between fights.
His weight is 12 stone or thereabouts when "walking the streets".
He's got a brilliant dietician working with him now, and whether you like it / like it not, whether it's healthy / not, Ricky does put on loads after the official weigh in.
I've been saying for over 2 years now, that Ricky won't do the weight - but he continues to prove everyone wrong.
